Going from coordinator to head coach for a big program like ND is a huge step and a lot of responsibility. I hope he’s successful and fans are patient.
@HockeyNationHD3 жыл бұрын
Fans should not be patient. The team has gone 44-6 over the past 5 years, returns a ton of talent (this was a rebuilding year), and has good classes coming in. If he can't hit the ground running, whoops, horrible hire. This isn't a rebuild situation. He's inheriting a top 5 program. So if he can't do it, again, whoops horrible unqualified hire. Which is kind of why you don't promote a 35yo who one year ago was d-coordinator at Cincinnati. Esp when you have the opportunity to hire - THE COACH AT CINCINNATI.

Notre Dame's highest priority is to hire a 5 Stars Defensive Coordinator Lawrence Taylor, along with a 5 Stars Offensive Coordinator Dan Marino to annually sign five 5 Stars Players and attract 5 Stars transfers from Alabama and Miami and Win the National Championship.

Thanks to God for helping ND keep Marcus Freeman and Tommy Reese so that we didn't lose them both to LSU. This will shore up all our recruits and our chance to get into the playoffs and God willing, if we make the playoffs this will fire up ND to WIN it all !!! GO IRISH !!!

So the OC and the DC are given credit for the programs success. No wonder why Kelly left. He was the engine that made the program so successful.

Kelly was keeping the program from winning a championship. You see none of the staff, players or recruits followed him to LSU.

The recruits are so bummed out about Kelly leaving that they endorsed Freeman and so far no recurits followed Kelly or going to other schools.

As a life long ND fan who is in his 40's I'm not mad a Kelly....it was a decision that had to be made right now...he is getting way more money and a school in LSU that is all about football....he left us way better than he found us...and I like our new HC and our staff we will be just fine.

Alabama is crushing GA. Hiring Freeman for which playoffs? Under Freeman ND will sink faster than the Titanic.
@Ween17763 жыл бұрын
I honestly didn't know the stats on ND recruiting classes. College football is all about recruiting, If Freeman is that good of a recruiter then this hire makes alot of sense. Not to mention the players that are there now for the most part won't leave bc they're used to him. I really hopes this works out for my Irish. Another thing that's cool is and isn't being talked about here is he's African American and it wasn't talked about. Meaning it's not a surprise anymore that a black man is getting one of the most prestigious coaching jobs in the college sports. At least to me that's cool

Absolutely a Hasty Move .
@willdiederich28853 жыл бұрын
Hasty probably, but I see Freeman as a coach with a massive upside. If he pans out the way he's expected to he can easily bring Notre Dame to more CFP's and potential national championships simply by his ability to recruit. As said in the video though, the CFP committee was probably going to drop ND in the rankings because of BK's departure, but hiring Freeman and having that continuity in the program is huge. Let's be real, if ND had hired someone like Luke Fickell from Cincinatti, Freeman would've been gone, either to LSU as DC or to another school as HC (probably Cincy). This way we keep him in the program and while it is a risk, I could've easily seen him coming to Notre Dame if he had just a couple years of head coaching experience. That means, even if there are some growing pains, that he should be successful in South Bend.
@A100-y2c3 жыл бұрын
Freeman did more with ND's players in 1 season than Kelly has done in 1 decade. LSU made a costly error, they should have pursued Freeman -- and could have saved $$ to boot.

About this idea that everyone is rooting for poor old Notre Dame: Brady Quinn seems to have forgotten that Brian Kelly came to Notre Dame the same way that he left: by abandoning an outstanding team when they needed him most. The young players on the ND team deserve better, but this feels like poetic justice for the ND program. That said, I like this hire for college football. Programs hiring coaches out from under other teams right before the postseason is not good for the sport. Kudos to ND for not perpetuating the cycle.
@willdiederich28853 жыл бұрын
I would say less poetic justice for Notre Dame, and more so poetic justice that few, if any, of BK's assistants are following him to LSU. More about the coach than the team IMO on this one.
@SenorJuan20233 жыл бұрын
As Colin Cowherd says, blame the NCAA, not the coaches. With early signing of recruits this month, Coaches can't wait until after bowl games to make the move.
@thomasnolan9713 жыл бұрын
My only point is Notre Dame people who are upset about this need to take a long look at their own program. When they hired him in 2009, Notre Dame watched, enabled, and encouraged Kelly doing this exact same thing to the University of Cincinnati, when UC was undefeated, ranked #3, and heading to the Sugar Bowl to fight for respect for their program. ND people who don’t like this need to understand their program has absolutely done it to other schools. If Quinn is outraged, he should address that too.

If this doesn’t work it will set back ND football for years.

So many times they hire someone within just to "keep the momentum" and then it fails miserably. I think ADs do this so they can buy 3 years to find a real replacement.

And sometimes it has worked, Chip Kelly, Lincoln Riley, Jimbo Fisher were are all promoted from within their programs and went to either BCS title games or playoff games.
@TheBolo20103 жыл бұрын
Stop it with the "he has never been a head coach before" Lincoln Riley, Kirby Smart, Lane Kiffin, etc. Never have been head coaches when they got their jobs. Coaching is Coaching. That's a disclaimer for schools if it doesn't work out.
@davidcole23373 жыл бұрын
Not sure this is a good Hire. Never been a Head Coach at a Major University usually never works out.. There is always exception but to rush the process for this year CFP is very short sited.. They are not going to get in CFP. because of Strength of Schedule. Your best win is 8 - 4 Non Ranked Purdue Team.. ZERO wins include any team still Ranked in the Top 25... And no Conference Championship means you get passed by teams behind you.
@TheRhyno4433 жыл бұрын

@@TheRhyno443 There are always Exceptions, but it is at least a ratio of 10 to 1. So for every 10 Assistant Coaches you Hire 1 does well. The Ones you selected are the extreme exception. Might work out but surprised they didn't take time to consider other coaches.. We will know in 3 Years if Notre Dame is Averaging 8-9 Wins if decision to rush was a good one or not..

It's not really a gamble, and what else could they do? Either he surprises us all and achieves what Kelly couldn't, or they throw some money at a big fish in a couple years. They will always have the recruits because of tradition. It's just beating the best of the SEC come playoff time that eludes ND.
@A100-y2c3 жыл бұрын
Facilities are excellent too, they have had NFL scouts tell them ND's indoor practice bldgs. are among the best in college FB. And if players are willing to come to Madison WI, Ann Arbor MI, Columbus OH, and Beaver Falls PA, it's bull to say that SB winters will keep them away. Such BS by the media. WE ARE ND!

As a lifelong Notre Dame hater, I'm actually ecstatic about this hire after watching him being reintroduced to his players...brought tears to my eyes!! Now as a black man I'm somewhat cautious about how much time ND will allow for his development and progress as HC. The world knows as a black man he'll have to be 10 times better than any white counterpart. Check Ty Willingham, Charlie Strong @ Texas. This is simply a reality that unfortunately and sadly still exists in America. That being said God's favor and blessing to you Coach Freeman and Irish kids. And remember....in ALL phases do your job, OUTWORK EM and you'll enjoy success in both the classroom and the gridiron. This is still like vinegar in my mouth but...go Irish!!!
