One of the best repair videos I've seen. The explanation was perfect, provided exactly what you need to know including torque settings. Detail of where washers go, what tools to use, how to gain access, etc. And all without horrible music or waffling about irrelevant rubbish. Extremely well done.

Recently got 95 E34 525i and hearing some clunking noise in the front. Decided that i'm going to replace all the arms there and your videos definitely helped. Clear instructions, mention of tools to use, mention of torque specs, clear verbalisation of proper procedures. Hope you become a master tech some day. You got the right mindset for it.

Great directions and detail! Thanks. Would an impact wrench make any of this easier? To be fair, your way is what I used on my e32 750iL years ago, but I'm thinking on my 535i, since an impact wrench is now readily available it would help with parts of this? Again, thanks!

definitely does help, i was the first person to remove the 19mm bolts from the bottom of my struts and i had to use a breaker bar with a pipe on it and wedging myself between a wall (my air impact wouldnt get them off) it also helps torqueing the nut back on the ball joint because the ball joint stud turns, i literally could not torque the ball joint nut it just spun infinitely good luck on the 535!

An impact wrench would definitely make removal of pretty much everything significantly easier, given you can fit the tool. Like Jerry was saying, those three bolts on the bottom of the strut don't like to give up too easily, and would definitely be a good place for impact tools if you've got one strong enough. It could definitely make it easier to get the nut on the top of the ball joint started as well since the joint does have a tendency to spin, but isn't necessary. Any time I've had a ball joint that spins instead of seating, simply tapping it in with a mallet or turning the steering wheel slightly has given it enough friction to let me drive the nut on.

Thanks! A torque wrench is used to tighten things to the right spec. It isn't always necessary since you can always just get things good and tight, but suspension parts are definitely one place where I'd recommend tightening things precisely.

Hey, glad you like the videos. I'm pretty sure mounting the bushing in the other set of holes would screw up your toe more than anything, which I guess you could fix with an alignment, but I'm not about all that. I don't have any use for the extra camber.
