Happy 1 Year Anniversary Braethorn! Very informative and entertaining! I really do like how you give viewers the straight up *You don't need a BEAST to game at 1440p)* More people need to hear it in the back rows. Loved the vid! LGN

Great video! Hopefully one day I get to the point where I understand about computers and all that shit as much as he does right now. I want to get a computer for gaming but I want to get to know more about it before I buy any random pc. I have a ps5 but I want to get into the pc world to try to get something better than what a ps5 can give me.

This may be considered a minor thing to look for but check the audio outputs of the motherboard. If you have 5.1 sound for your computer, make sure the motherboard supports it. Asus does, Gigabyte does not unless you have optical output. If you are playing games or want to stream with great sound it will be disappointing to find only one output jack on your board.

I think that this video is very helpful for people who don't know that much about PCs who are looking to get a PC for themselves. Recently I had built both myself and my friend a budget PC for gaming but had i not known what i knew at that time he probably would've gotten ripped off by one of those companies that build PCs for you. (I had built a system that costed like ~650 but had all new parts and included both a mechanical keyboard and gaming mouse. We could've gone for a system by CLX that was 750 but had worse ram, psu, storage, and didn't even include either a mouse or keyboard despite literally being $100 more.)

The way we spec computers components need to change because of what’s coming. PSU and cooling need to be higher on the list from previous generations. 1. PSU - Needs to be given a bigger part of your budget. It’s not a glam part that is usually visible to anyone. The micro spikes that these components can cause will only become greater as we add more high end components. If you’re building you need to do the research into a better built, better spec’d psu. It makes zero sense to add all these high end video cards and hard drives and cpus without a great psu. So many folks spec the barest of minimum psu’s for their system. But will spend 3 times the amount on fans and a blinged out case. We need to remember that we aren’t Nvidia or Intel etc. We don’t have test benches with power conditioners to regulate power fluctuations so that it has zero noise or distortions. 2. Cooling - The difference between a 240 and a 280 is significantly bigger than the difference between a 280 and a 360. Bigger surface area translates to better cooling. 120mm x 240mm = 28800mm2 140mm x 280mm = 39200mm2 120mm x 360mm = 43200mm2 The price difference between 240 & a 280 is within $20-40 within the model family. 2b. Fans - Having 10 fans in case that has no airflow or non optimized fan intake/exhaust makes zero sense. KZbin has so many reviews for each case with these tests that have been already performed by reviewers. All you need to do is watch and setup accordingly. Good luck 🍀 to everyone ymmv !

Man I’m buying a prebuilt one and then I’m gonna be upgrading it myself. It seems a lot to take on just picking out parts and building a system. Il get there one day but baby steps for now.

Interesting question about waiting to buy. For me it's not about the newest thing but the overall price. I live in the Northwest fairly close to Puget Systems and have been talking to them about buying another computer from them. I asked them directly about waiting to buy and the guy I was talking to said he would wait for a few months because they are beginning to see prices softening. (Imagine a PC builder/seller telling you to wait) What that means I'm not sure but since I'm not in a huge hurry, a couple of months to save a few bucks isn't a bad thing. It would be great to see you put together a video on waiting to buy a prebuilt PC or building one yourself. Maybe address it in terms of new components coming out as well as a softening of prices in the overall market. Throw in the crisis in the Ukraine and its overall effect on the market and you would have a heck of a video. Since I found your site a short while I've enjoyed your content. Thanks very much and keep it up. Happy anniversary by the way.

Looking into getting a gaming PC this year, but nothing too insane. Budget is probably on the higher end for longevity of the machine, but I play a lot of older games that are beyond my laptop's capabilities. anything in the $1800 range, give or take one hundred or so. I appreciate the information you provide, and I will continue my research.

I want to point out something that really got my attention with this guy. Nobody seems to understand Cam softwares, 3d modeling and rendering, and post processing code for tool paths. As a machinist and engineer, it is incredibly frustrating to do your job, when the computer lags and stutters and drops the image when you're rotating it 360°. Buying the top of the line "good" computers, and finding zero solutions to ease our specific issues. And this guy not only seems to get it, he even talks about it. And I never ever hear anyone address solid works or specific niche programs that are very common in the manufacturing industry. Just wanted to say, I appreciate the details.

Be nice to also touch on what you could upgrade later with systems you review. Like Hoplite intel you reviewed seemed good for 1080 gaming. You could touch on what you could upgrade in that system to make it better down road for budget guys. Take 3050 out put 3060 ti in etc...or whatever

When you were talking about 'White Tax', and how white components often cost more, you said "It's a Supply and Demand thing.". However, KZbin threw an ad in the middle of that sentence, cutting out a syllable. Due to this, I heard you say "It'll cost a lot more, it's a [...] Man thing." Then, I nodded yes.

Speaking of recommending subjectively enjoyable peripherals... I bought an OLED Switch a while back, and now I want OLED in everything... I really love the way it looks. I am looking forward to a time when OLED PC Monitors are more affordable, I really hope that day comes. I don't think I can justify spending thousands of dollars on a Monitor... If anything, I'd rather spend more on the brain than the face.
