I think the VPO, Bernstein and Zimerman were a wonderful combination, particularly Beethoven’s 3rd, 4th and 5th piano concertos performed not all that long before Bernstein’s death. Zimerman claims that they had plans to perform the 1st and 2nd concertos as well, but couldn’t fit those in before Bernstein died.
