Gauge: 11 sts x 12 rows of hdc = 4 inches
Finished Size: 8.5 x 10 inches laid flat excluding pompom
Yarn: Caron® Swirl Cakes by Yarnspirations (77% Acrylic, 23% wool; 8 oz, 227 g; Approx. 252 yds, 230 m). Bulky Weight (5). You will need 1 cake/hat. Colour Shown: Iced Cream.
Hook: Size L/11 (8 mm) Hook. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge
OPTIONAL: Pompom to attach to the top

I don’t often comment, but thank you for sharing this pattern. I love crocheting, but am terrible at interpreting written patterns, so I really appreciate a good tutorial video or stitch diagram. This video is awesome, and the end product hat came out really well. I ended up using a different weight yarn (dk weight) but your instructions enabled me to modify in such a way where the end product still came out just how I was hoping.

I don’t like working slip stitches very much, so I opted for a double slip stitch (a watched a tutorial from this channel uploaded a few weeks ago). That way, my brim was still tight/stretchy with a ribbed texture, but easier to work. Hope this can help my fellow crocheters!

I love this pattern but don't have any bulky yarn. How can I make this gorgeous hat with a different yarn? I am looking to use Soho Lively yarn, it's a #3(light) yarn. I have done the brim part, but if I continue on and add the 51 half double crochet stitches, it'll only be enough to do half of the hat. What are the increments needed to go all the way around.
