Tawnos's Coffin doesn't work as you described. It reads "[...]. When Tawnos’s Coffin leaves the battlefield or becomes untapped, return [...]", meaning there is a triggered ability that triggers in your untap step. There is no priority during the untap step, so that trigger goes onto the stack during your upkeep. At this point all "At the Beginning of your Upkeep"-Triggers also trigger, meaning Braids will not trigger, as she is still exiled during this time.

To The Listeners: One of my favorite decks to pilot is my Zurgo Bellstriker Polymorph deck. While it's not the most "fun" deck to play against over and over (because dying to Blightsteel turn 5 is not always a ton of fun) but whenever I can get the "Woh, that's super unique" reaction it makes it all the more worth it. Usually only play it once per get together but just the silliness is so fun. Favorite deck to play against is my older brother's Nissa, Vastwood Seer Goblin Charbelcher deck for the same reasons as my deck. So awesome seeing original and unique builds. Another deck I played a while ago was a Oloro life swap deck that had the "wincon" of Mischevious Poltergeist. So awesome.

My really fun deck is Grothama, the all devouring. In a similar fashion to braids it starts like a group hug deck but being mono green, ramps like crazy. It's really easy to draw a massive hand size and transform Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant at which point you can play almost all of the crazy big Eldrazi and dinosaurs in a single turn and make them all indestructible with soul of New Phrexia. But up to that point you can let people kill grothama (or just deal some damage then bounce her with illusionists closet) to draw some cards.

I hope even when Jimmy comes back, you keep DJ as a permanent host as well. He's very refreshing and positive. Oh and the man deserves a GameKnights or ExtraTurn appearance. The deck I pull out when I fist meet people is usually my Dragon deck from the 2017 precons that has been upgraded with better lords and mana base. Alesha is my other favorite and my first deck I ever built based on the 2016 precon and has been upgraded and foiled out over the past few years.

Braids is one of my favorite parts of my phelddagrif deck. It's group hug/mill, but it definitely gets people animated and even knowing how it wins its fun watching others figure out how greedy they can get away with being.

My fun deck actually exists thanks to DJ. My deck is a jund ur dragon deck. Used to be karrthus, tyrant of jund, based on DJ's deck tech but i kept bouncing around with commanders between him, new darrigaz, and OG Vaevictus Asmadi. Then DJ did a video on his decks and showed a rakdos ur dragon deck. So i thought I'd try it, and it works great so thanks DJ

Jake Scott Yes finally someone that understands that Ur-dragon has to be played as a 3c! I’d recommend a splash in blue for Nicol Bolas the ravager (needed early drop), Silumgar (good value), Rhystic Study (the deck needs draw), Temur Ascendecy (so much synergy) and maybe Rite of replication (for the win).

I've really been enjoying my Jund Ur-Dragon deck too! I have the worldgorger combo in mine but honestly, it often wins by just DRAGON SMASHING! It's really fun.

Wrong, it ramps so nicely and hits hard. And primal surge has won me the game before because i run a total of 3 non-permanent cards and the look on my opponent's face is priceless lol

I once played a six player game with Braids and original Jhoira in an Intet goodstuff deck. It was a ton of fun to play--mostly worked on staying under the radar until I could turn the tables on the last other guy standing. It was amazing. This makes me want to revisit that idea, or even promote Braids to the command zone. After seeing this, I know the deck will be even better! Thanks DJ for all the great ideas.

I have a similar deck with kami of the crecent moon every one draws a ton of cards only thing is I don't have to discard any of them since I run 6 reliquary Tower effects my win conditions are all equal to the number of cards in hand. So out of nowhere your staring down a 46/46 psychosis crawler with a full grip of counter magic.

Sounds like my Tomorrow, Azami's Familiar deck. I usually win by making everyone draw out because Tomorrow replaces my draw so it doesn't hurt me when I make everyone draw 52 cards.

My favorite is Edric Group Hug. Giving everyone else tons of lands and card draw, while playing my cards that interact with how large everyone's hand is and drawing ludicrous amounts of cards each turns provides fun for the whole table.

The one deck that I have that's kind of fun to do that I own is Selvala, Explorer Returned. People want cards, they see me get advantage, but it durdles a bit until I either hit a bit mana spell, a tap-untap effect, or just make a big board. Super fun.

For fun games I always pick my Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis deck. It's a grouphug deck that let's people draw cards, ramp like crazy and just simply play their decks. The deck can win via a few ways: Kiki Combo and swing for the win, Insurrection and swing for the win, with enough mana burn them with comet storm and lastly Approach of the Second Sun since you draw loads of cards it's possible you can win the turn after you've cast Approach

One card that jumped to my mind that wasn't mentioned was Mindslaver. It kind of falls into the steal the things you gave the category. Getting that for free so you just have the 4 mana activation seems great. then you get to decide what people do with their braids trigger/ the giant thing they put out the turn before.

As a longtime Jumbo fan, I'm acquainted with DJ's love of Braids, in fact, DJ is the reason I have a Braids deck of my own. I really hope you all can find a way to make DJ part of the permanent crew at CZ. BTW, my "treasured deck" is Feldon. It will never be Tier 1 but it's my baby.

Back in 2009-2011, when the original black Braids was still legal in Commander, my best friend and I had built a pair of two headed Giant Braids decks and dominated our local game store tournaments with them... which is no surprise and a reason why black Braids is banned. I ran black Braids and he ran support, counter spells and bouncing braids when needed. So, even though our deck(s) were nothing like this, and we only used blue Braids for the lulz, she will always have a spot in my heart.

My favorite 'middle ground' deck HAS to be my first ever deck.. Darien, King of Kjeldor. I was encouraging combat, stealing damage, gaining life and building an army. It was a lot of fun for everyone involved and I wish I still had it. :)

@Command Zone.... The Fatespinner Question is amazing and I am so happy that DJ plays it.. In my Najeela Deck, I chose to skip my draw step two turns in a row in a gamble to keep Najeela's Warrior token generation optimized. After Najeela was killed, drew into the land needed to replay Najeela and alpha the next turn .. still my favorite game of commander I have played due to the nature of Fatespinner and baiting people into a race they couldn't win due to Najeela's Exponential Growth and Lifelink :)

I enjoy playing decks with Hive Mind. One of my favorite things to do is cast Fractured Identity, target my own Hive Mind, then when everyone has a Hive Mind, cast things like Tempt With Discovery or Epic Experiment, or if I’m feeling mean cast Fascinate to mill the entire table.

My favorite deck by far is my "go for second place" K&T of Meletis. Guaranteed to have a fun game with all but the most competitive decks. My favorite interaction is Eye of the Storm and Fractured Identity to keep targeting Rites of Flourishing, etc.

Haha this was the first deck I built. My friends still had only slightly modded versions of the precons and the cards in there were so expensive they couldnt ever cast any. With this deck every bad, no matter how slow got to play, even better if you get to protect braids you can team up with the other guy with the bad slow deck and get to take down two highly tuned(not competitive) decks. Great fun anytime I take it out :)

Whenever I'm sitting down with a new group for the first time, I usually play my Edric deck. It's not very cut throat and while not being full on group hug, it does run some howling mine type effects to play off of the politics of being the deck that's playing small creatures and giving everyone cards to sort of disincentivize people from attacking me (which is usually how it ends up winning). Then it has some extremely janky combos, like enter the infinite, move to discard, then on the opponent's turn, psychic spiral, or Meloku+Patron of the Moon+Ashnod's Altar+Altar of the Brood.

The deck I have the most fun with is my Wort, Boggart Auntie deck. Super aggro, has some Sac shenanigans, but it's not overpowered. It's a deck I can bring to any play group and (assuming all decks played aren't super powerful) everyone has a good chance at winning.

My favorite fun deck is my O-Kagachi Maze’s End deck. It’s mostly pillow fort and group hug (started from the K&T Kings deck), but I recently added doubling season and super friends underneath the hood. I’m thinking about adding in some of the “lands matter” stuff (like what Serge from LRR) to go back to the guild gate roots of the deck. (Amulet of Vigor is an awesome card in my deck).

My current main deck is my "Riku and his sneaky squirrels". Start with DJ's Riku video, then remove all combos, keep clones, Bribery etc, add in a squirrel/polymorph package that mostly get big creatures that generate their own tokens in one way or another, then fill in the rest with cards supporting that: Doubling Season, Sneak Attack, Leyline/Orrery, Purphoros. (Casual deck that scales with how strong the opponents decks are)

I've been playing Braids in my "rotation" of edh decks for about a year. Any thoughts on Parallel Thoughts? The CMC of it is a bit high, but by cheating other cards in, I feel it's doable and gets me the creatures or wipes that I desire.

A card I add is telepathy. One blue for an enchantment that all opponents have to play with there hands reviled. It would help with knowing when to play brades

Edric, spymaster of trest lol with primal surge as my wincon. Deck is full of permanents that draw cards and help everyone including myself. I get left alone for the most part but have things like crawlspace to keep me alive. When i cast surge ,i love hearing everyone asking for someone to answer it or try to kill my laboratory maniac before i have another draw trigger go off .

I have a Grothama, All Devouring mono green group hug deck that facilitates playing the game for my opponents. Ramp spells that benefit everyone, cards that allow card draw along with Grothama that can allow combat abilities to trigger. Token shenanigans that give my opponents tokens and fog effect to keep everyone alive :P fun and inexpensive build.

@DJ do you ever want other ways to cheat things in? Gate to the Aether is a super fun card. I had a Mirko Vosk wheel deck built around Waste not which was a blast. Got a little too combo-y for me, so I took it apart, but drawing cards is a blast.

Im currently working on a dragonlord silumgar deck that has no creatures except clones. That way i can play it in any power level pod because my deck is only as good as whatever decks im playing against. I also get to play one of my favourite cards due to it being on theme, aethersnatch, which is a major plus

I have a similar build of Kynaios & Tiro of meletis that has a similar early and mid game plan. The end of mid game becomes chaos with things like possibility storm, knowledge pool, forced fruition to get to one of multiple ways to splinter twin. I call the deck dirty love. Early game is giving cards and extra lands and convince everyone they’re really against each other except me.

Quantum Stunt Monkey I took my Kynaios & Tiro in a different direction. Legendary tribal. Each creature is a legendary creature and there are a few ways to cheat them out. People don’t see super swingy haymakers out of the “group hug” deck

I haven't really got to use it much, but my Grothama, All-Devoring deck is pretty fun. Although I think it me the one playing it to much aggro from other players. Still is pretty fun when someone gets to draw all those cards.

Another artifact I think would be really powerful with this deck is helm of host. A little expensive (4 drop, 5 to equip) but with the crazy powerful creatures you're going to be in control of, being able to duplicate them every combat, even if they're legendary, is insane. On top of that, the clone gets haste, so you get the benefit of say swiftboots when you drop your super creature, and you still have one left as a blocker. It's obviously gonna be a target, like most things in this deck, but if you successfully get one duplicate from it it's way worth it

Mycosynth Lattice + Blinkmoth urn. Makes all permanents artifacts for everyone, then urn gives mana at starts of upkeeps.

I think you're wrong about vanishing. It has always been stellar for me. Not to mention, there's a secret mode for the card. If you put it on an opponent's big creature, you can make sure it never hits you, can't block your stuff, etc.

I have a Reyhan and Ishai partners deck that is all about politics. It runs most of the friend/foe cards and assist cards from Battlebond, and a lot of the Will of the Council cards from Conspiracy. I call it my Mafia deck because every time I play it, there's a lot of "Maybe I name you as a friend with this card and you do me a favor later" or "Boy it would be a shame if something bad happened to that creature, maybe you should vote my way". I always wanted to play a game in a pin stripe suit and white hat with a cigar

I have two decks that masquerades as a grouphug. Zedruu - Everyone draws (Dictate of Kruphix, Howling Mind, Temple Bell), put up some pillowforts, occasional Robin Hood stuff (I steal from the leading player and donate to the struggling player). Finisher = After everyone has tons of cards + Hive Mind + Molten Psyche. Karona - Plays a bunch of cards that encourages my opponents to go for each other. Gahiji, Mathas, Edric, Xantcha, Sakashima (as any of them, Karona). Throw in Hunted Troll and Hunted Phantasm to provide ammunition for others. Helm of the Host is hilarious in this deck. Pillowforts. The rest is filled with spellslinging goodness, notable ones are Batwing Brume (against go-wide strategy), Congregate (save allies), Master Warcraft (glorious finisher), Head Games (great boon or bane, hilarious with Mindslaver).

Since they did sol ring, they should show the stats of do you have a higher win % when you cast your commander.

I know ya didn't like Paradox Haze but what about Strinoc Resonator.. can be neat with some of those come into play triggers and Braids trigger here and there if you wanted them?
