Memorizing scriptures is very helpful to bring my thoughts into obedience. The spirit can then "bring to remembrance" those verses and I can become obedient to Christ. For instance, I have been battling wanting to retaliate a neighbor, but the spirit keeps reminding me of " thy shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" and " love worketh no I'll to his neighbor." As I meditate on those, I am convicted and choose to obey God's commands instead of my desires to retaliate.
