My appendix exploded spreading infection across my pelvic area. The surgeon said it was the worst appendicitis he had ever seen in his entire surgery career. They said if my parents waited one more day, then chances are I wouldn't be here right now. I spent a week in the hospital and 3 weeks total away from school. If any of you go into surgery, don't be afraid. Once you get past the surgery which you can't feel anything while they're working on you. The rest is easy, the pain killers get rid of most if not all pain. Those of you who can't bear pain, they've got you covered.

I've had my appendix removed. Thr pain before I got it removed was unbearable and it was so terrible. It ruptured during surgery, so I had to stay in the hospital for a week. It wasn't that bad, it's just the fact that couldn't do anything besides walk around, eat, and watch tv. If anyone is afraid of surgery, don't be. You go in and they give you medicine to make yourself loopy and relaxed. Then they bring you into the room and they put a mask on you to give you anesthesia, and then the next thing you know you're awake. It felt like I was asleep for three seconds and then I woke up. It's a fascinating experience. 🙂

@@atlas7592 I don't know about mask anesthesia, but IV anesthesia just knocks you out. I was put under when I was like 8, and they told me it would make me sleepy. I of course then decided to stay awake as long as I could, but pretty much as soon as the anesthesia entered my body I conked out. I had been staring at the needle as it was injected; I don't even think I had time to close my eyes before I was unconscious.

For all of you who are hoping not to have surgery, maybe I can make you feel a little better about it. I've had two surgeries and an endoscopy (tube camera down the throat.) It's perfectly normal to be nervous the day-of. But after you're prepped and ready to go, typically they give you a mild anesthetic that makes you kind of loopy and relaxed. They get you settled on the operating table, usually by securing your arms if it's an abdominal surgery like mine was. Again, you're pretty drugged up. I briefly recall the mask being put over my face and the next thing I knew, I woke up. I don't remember anything after them putting on the mask. Then it's just a matter of recovering and doing what the doctors and nurses say. It's not so scary, it really isn't. If you are concerned about anything, you have the right to speak to someone about it. They should be able to answer your questions. It's really not something to panic about or avoid because of fear.
@emmahertzen10697 жыл бұрын
Stoic Wolf I also actually had a tube camera down my throat and here in Finland they have great doctors so they just talked to me and made me really relaxed and I had like six doctors by me and two of the doctors put a thing in my hand and one of the others on the other side talked to me so that I would be relaxed. The patient does know what's going on in their surgeries. It's required that the doctor explain EVERYTHING that will happen to the patient. They literally go through the entire procedure. If they don't and something happens that the patient didn't know about or consent to, the doctor can be sued for malpractice or lack of information because the patients can (and have said on numerous occasions) "I didn't know you were going to do x. I didn't agree to x in the agreement we signed. I'm suing you." And something like that can mean the entire career of the doctor. Bye bye license, hello job at mcdonalds because no hospital will hire you after a fuck up like that.

@@i_am_boredom that's not true either. the brain will be able to adapt and function completely normally. the half brain is art and the other is intellect thing isn't really true at all. if half of the brain is removed at a very young age the difference will be almost indistinguishable, apart from some weaker motor functions in half of the body

Dear Jack My best friends aunt is getting brain surgery tomorrow. Today I felt so helpless as she told me how she may die any minute because of the brain blood clot (there's a special name for it but I forgot, it begins with a) and I'm really scared for Ava my friend. This video made me laugh though, even though it was about brain surgery, but your commentary really made my day. Thanks. From me

(I only know so much, so correct me from wrong!) for those who don't know, epilepsy is caused by a certain part of the brain and a seizure can be triggered by flashing lights, certain movements, etc. The surgery fixes this part of the brain, so that the epilepsy is fixed. But not all seizures are as severe as you may think, some just consist of people staring off into space, or uncontrollable movements. For example, if someone couldn't stop shaking their hand back and forth, this could be epilepsy, it could be something else. (reminder, I only know so much. But a person I know has epilepsy, so I know a thing a two. )
@thealmightysouleater26422 жыл бұрын
Well explained. What happens is basically that the nerves in you're brain can't transmit the informations. Epilepsy can also come in different grades. I have a weaker form of it but there is people I know who bit inside their tongue so hard that it had to be stitched.

the amazing thing is: Ripped tissue heals faster than cut Tissue... Thats why they make smaller Incisions and carefully rip them open instead of just cutting everything :D
@carlospolk50339 жыл бұрын
+PsYcHo4MuFfInS Really, how is that possible. Isn't ripped and cut nearly the same thing. Either way, your fibers are being split apart, so how does it decide to heal faster when slit?
@salicyl33509 жыл бұрын
when it rips it rips at the weakest points but when you cut it you also cut "strong" tissue.

So, I know I'm like 7 years late to this but I just googled what the appendix was for and apparently the body needed it to digest harder digestible stuff we ate as ancient humans before we started eating more easily digestible food, which eventually made the appendix unnecessary.

Missing bits of brain is ok. The brain rewires and stays fully functional. I once have seen a guy in a hospital missing have his head but he was sipping his tea in the cafeteria. Fun fact: head surgery or trepanations (opening of the skull, probably to ease headaces or "release demons") are known to have been done since palaeolithic times. And people survived them, there are findings of skulls with healing marks

I had an appendix surgery and it was so weird seeing the same thing in a game. I remember all the stuff... Actually i was asleep... they gave me a syrup and i drank it and i fell asleep soon. By the way, appendix is just a thing no one needs. It just stands there, i don't know what's the point of it, but yea... I had to have the surgery because i was a crazy kid and i jumped around all the time, and then my appendix started hurting me... Then my mom took me to the doctor, and they sent me to the hospital, to check out if it is something serious or not. etc. etc. I had to stay in the hospital a few days because you cannot do the surgery right away. well i think you can't. Omg this moment was shocking, please read: I was really hungry, and i saw a nurse or whatever she is called driving hot dogs on a thing. MY mom asked me if i was hungry, and i said yes. Then we took the food. My mom didnt give it to me instantly, when suddenly a woman walks in and sais: NO! You can't eat that, it will cause the appendix to blow up! I was fucking scared and my mom gave the hot dog back to the woman. God bless the woman who helped me and saved my life.

Actually Jack the epilepsy surgery is for those who have it badly. Like once a week, once a day, many times a day. Those who lives it turns upside down. But theres some major risks though aside from death. Such as for some it changes your personality forever. So you are not who you once were. Like having an alternate personality. There are also other procedures that they use like a vegas nerve stimulator that gets implanet that goes on under your skin on your by your collar bone. Just like a pace maker you have to go in every few years to replace the batteries. Its another way to help control seizures. I don't qualify for the brain surgery which is ok with me. I do qualify for the stimulator though. I may get one because it will help with my daily migraines. Thanks for playing these games Jack. Its very educational and important for those who don't know about this stuff. And like many your videos make me feel so wonderful and helps me get through my painful migraines almost daily. YOUR THE BOSS!!!
@ChewableTrent10 жыл бұрын
I thought it was spelled vegus nerve ._. I think it's the longest cranial nerve and controls a whole lotta biz. And putting pressure on it can curb seizures
@Foltzy5610 жыл бұрын
I have epilepsy, yet I have not had a seizure for around three to four years. My seizures only occurred while asleep, in the midst of sleepwalking. It was very odd because I wouldn't remember anything in which happened and my doctor said it might come back around my thirties. I'm glad I don't have it at the moment but, once you have it you have it forever.

My brother has epilepsy but has a rare condition where he has them multiple times a day and during his sleep and when he watches television. However, it's not extremely fatal so he doesn't need to have surgery but he does need to take 8 epilim tablets a day..

Same here, hope your brother grows out of it. When I was in a special seizure ward where they monitor seizures, the woman who was young then me was having them every 20 minutes or so. All she did was cry and cry. As did her parents. She was married and just had a baby. It was so traumatic to hear and see what she was going through. Makes me not complain about mine as much. My brain injury and all I wouldn't want her life. @Foltzy Yeah I had three Grand Mals. But after the right set of meds worked I don't have those anymore. I just have some weird small sleep seizure thing. Doesn't seem to do much to me aside make me feel drowsy and sick for a day.
