The constant radio chatter reminds me of Ace Combat, the enemies have that The Thing body horror vibe, "you want to live forever" line from starship troopers, even has a subspace stage like freespace.

I dont regret paying $7 for this game brand new when I got it back in like '05. One of my favorite old school styles, modern day, space shooters that actually had a decent story line. It'd be awesome if they remade this game via flight sim like Ace Combat or even keep the traditional way with a more modern touch. I miss these small third party developers who make these games because everyone is so worried about making the best AAA possible and bandwagon to those titles, while ditching everything else.

Yeah, that's a steal, dude. Game goes for, like, 30+, these days, (used of course), which is somewhat high for a PS2 game.

It kind of did get remade as an arcadey flight sim in the spiritual sequel Project Sylpheed (spelled that way). 2009, Xbox 360, SETA-developed and Square Enix published. I don't member it being dazzling, alas.

Great game, I still have my copy with the holographic cover. I was only able to beat it once with one health bar left. The last level is brutal and takes a lot of commitment to beat. No save points in the game so you had to grind the whole game on every sitting to then continuously attempt the last stage.

The one time when Working Design couldn't actually work any of their shenanigans into the game and just publish it as is. Logically, one would think they can't really do much since it's not a traditional RPG, then again Silhouette Mirage proved otherwise. Anyways, it seems they did make one change, each of your shield stock equals 5 hits, and you have one additional stock, equaling 10 hits. However, the Japanese original had 4 extra stock, giving them 25 hits. It's just like Working Design to make things harder They must have been the ones who designed that reflective glitter box art, it's definitely their style and certainly something no other PS2 box art had at the time The comm chatter is unfortunately overwhelmed by the loud background music, so suggest turning it off if you want to hear the banter

This is what's wrong with today's gaming industry, games like this don't get made anymore. To busy catering for the cry baby COD generation to worry about what other older gamers like. Imagine games like Silpheed, Starblade, on current or next gen consoles.
The last boss's coping is Poor, isn't it? I have a laser and napalm. If I were you, I'd wear a thunder on both wings. It'll break easily. ラストボスの対処が、甘いね。レーザーとナパームをしているけど。私ならば、両翼にサンダーを装着してますよ。その方が、簡単に壊れますよ。

I have been a huge fan of the Mega-CD Silpheed for over 20 years, and i still am. A perfect space shooter that it is, - could only be rivaled by the mighty Soulstar...but even that rivalry never resulted in victory of the latter (even despite its superb music). And when i discovered first that there was a sequel to Silpheed - back in the day, i was ecstatic. But, somehow never had a chance to try or even see it, never had a PS2. Now i see that i was missing absolutely nothing! This is nowhere near the first game's perfection! Mega-CD title was created with love, such incredible attention to detail, the stages were designed literally to blow your mind, to make you feel like you are in an epic space battle-odyssey: Han Solo himself in a Millennium Falcon for the very least! The way huge asteroids and space stations pass by you, laser cannons flash and rend nearby spacecrafts into thousands of pieces...Unforgettable hyperspeed run across battle-station of stage 4 or being inside a twisting computer tech complex at stage 7, all out assault at stage 8, asteroid dash at stage 2...whew, there are so many truly great moments in the game that seamlessly merge and flow from one to another to form a game that virtually never gets old! Lets not forget the absolutely terrific sound design and music... Here, however, we have none of that...NONE! We have a "made of plastic / it's fantastic" Barbie-doll kinda shmup, with literally nothing to show for! Lackluster "tubing" while pressing the fire button repeatedly, that's it. More like a clone of Iridium-3D, than a Silpheed sequel. Well, on one hand - it is a little sad, to see such disappointment, but on the other - i am glad that i was missing nothing! Silpheed for Mega-Cd, Soulstar - and Novastorm PC. This trio ruled supreme back then, and it still rules now - undisputed.

Yeah, Shut up! Your Nostalgia is doing the talking, and disrespecting the efforts and generational progression of talented developers and gaming. Just cause they couldn't match your retro fantasy of a Star Wars dogfight, you go on a sequel tyrade. Have a seat! P.S. Mega-CD Sylpheed music was Trash. It was let down by horrible sound sampling. Ex: Drum snares were cheap and rhythm was mostly off-key. You're delusional!

You know you could've "ALSO" Use some of the "OTHER" Weapons that you'd unlocked in the majority of the playthrough!!!!! Not to mention the fact that you have "ALMOST" gotten "YOUR" BUTT & "YOUR" SHIP BLOWN TO SMITHEREENS IN A "FEW" OF THE GAME'S LEVELS INCLUDING THE GAME'S "FINAL" LEVEL!!!!! I mean you unlocked "ALL" of the game's weapons for the Left & Right gun mounts so why do you stick with the Optic Laser & Napalm Bomb Combo FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE FREAKING PLAYTHROUGH?!?!?!?!?! So what i am saying is: Why not get creative with the game's various weapon combinations?????
@dreadsoft995 ай бұрын
This game is fucking ridiculously hard when you first pick it up. Some weapon combos make the game slightly easier… and I’d argue some make it way fucken harder haha.
