The tapeworm is a perfect representation of the modeling industry... Demanding, uncaring, and only after "what it wants"(food for the worm/revenue and sales from ads, etc for modeling). Results are what matter, not how they are achieved. Results at ANY cost.

This episode was hard to watch. Not because of the tapeworm tub scene, but the toxicity of the beauty industry. Vivian wasting away physically and her personality change, the binge eating, and her hangry outburst showed just how hard and scary being a model is.

This season till episode 3 has been following a pattern where they have fitted real horrific situations that we have either seen or experienced ourselves. Like in 1st it was bullying and losing someone that makes you more vulnerable, in 2nd episode both pandemic (although that wasn't horror of the episode) and use of AI, and in 3rd what models go through and how the industry doesn't care at all.

For anyone wondering how the rest of the episode goes. Vivian (the main character) is told by the modeling agent woman that she’s too fat. Vivian goes to a doctor who gives her a tape worm to ingest and tells her that if she wants it to work she must not eat over the normal limit of what she would eat, however the tapeworm demands food and she consumes large amounts and the tapeworm keeps on growing, she’s getting so skinny to the point where she is loosing the job because of her gauntness. She tries to get the worm out but the doctor says there is nothing she can do since she broke the rules. She goes into the bathtub and the worm comes out and she won’t let it back inside so he kills her, her roommate finds her dead and the worm goes inside the roommate landing her a job as a model. The end!

An wrong thing in the film is that Vivian must, alone, take the strange worm out of her body. Couldn't the doctor have helped her with that, because it looks like at least 2 people should do the "surgery" and not do it alone? It will cost her life, and I'm not surprised why. 🤗

"things have gotten worse since we last spoke" it's what it reminded me of. It's a story about a lonely girl who gets manipulated by an online friend into doing horrible and demeaning actions until it results in a tapeworm that the online friend convinces her is "their baby". It's horrifying.
