How do you think this compares to "Fool Me Once" from last year? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
@louisefarrar6037
@louisefarrar6037 15 күн бұрын
Fool Me Once was ten times better. Maya was such a compelling character with her own flaws and challenges to overcome and at the end, though it was tragic, there was comeuppance for everyone. Maya sacrificed herself to bring down the Burketts and ending her own torment over the murder of innocent civilians; and the corrupt, psychopathic Burkett family were taken down. By contrast, Kat’s great struggle to break through this prison of lies literally everyone in her life has trapped her in is muted by the fact she decides to forgive everyone and becoming just as morally corrupt as them.

Could made this in 3 episodes. That storyline who the old dude was killing people had nothing to do with her story line with her dad. A lot of this killed this show for me

Honestly, old dude was killing people should made as a main story, initial three episides are good, may be they are planing for 2nd season, simple climax killed entire season.

I hated it lol Also how does Kat just completely ignore that Josh ran away for 11 years and get back with him, and still get back with him after the ending.... Waste of time and sad I wasted my friday night binging this show

Like? He left and went to have a baby He left and changed his name To think she was willing to forgive him after she found out he left because he found out her dad was cheating and corrupt. Like was that a reason to leave and even take it a step further by changing your name?

What a terrible ending! Firstly Kat getting back with Josh and then maybe getting back with him after the trust - thst isn’t love that’s obsession. And finding the farm house was way too convenient and easy

For most of the show I was thinking 'this is okay, an enjoyable binge and intriguing story, but the greatest thing I have ever seen' - so bloody disappointed by the ending though. I was hoping for some comeuppance for all these characters who have lied and lied and lied and lied constantly to protect Kat - who was clearly a lot stronger and resilient than they gave her credit for - and also revealed themselves to be completely corrupt themselves in the process. Stagger has covered up the murder of a police officer, who was himself massively corrupt; Josh emotionally destroyed a woman he claimed to love to help build this prison of lies everyone else has trapped her in; her close friend lied to her (though I'm more willing to forgive Aqua given how she was nearly murdered by that piece of crap Clint); and her mother and all her parent's friends and colleagues lied to her or were covering for corruption. Yet there is no comeuppance for these lies. No punishment in some form. Kat seems just pretty happy to forgive everyone and thereby corrupt herself in the process. Atrocious ending.

Every episode starts and ends with a "I know I've been lying to you for years about this really relevant information to your case but hopefully I can just bombshell you now and we can forget about it" also "main character human trafficking sidequest that's not really relevant to the story at all"

Lead actress was frustrating. Not the best detective as she is so absent minded. It seemed as though she wasnt interested in a case if it didn't have Josh name in it eg Rishi. The van took the boy and she couldn't memories the number plate atleast since she just stood there. Also so detectives in the UK not carry guns. How does someone just ghost you for 11yrs and you just forgive so easily. Thats some crazy obsession she had.

It just felt like 2 different stories thrown together into 1 series with a meaningless connection between them (the profile Josh’s kid made). Most of Harlen Coben’s shows start with 2 or more stories all linking with one another which make you constantly put the dots together about how they connect right to the end and feels like a proper conclusion. This one however……yeah it’s definitely a recommended skip😂

Switch josh and kat, make the kid relevant by having her be pregnant before she disappeared, and tie the two stories together better and youve got a gem.

I liked this one. The final twist isn't as crazy as his other shows, but fine with it. I was fine with the shorter episode count. All his shows follow the same formula and this time there were less red herrings b/c of the lower episode count.

The whole series is based on Kat being too weak to handle the truth. Everyone close to her lied over and over again. The ending also feels unrealistic, sure they are both single and haven’t seen each other in a long time so getting together once is okay but then she should’ve been asking more questions about Sadie’s mum and focusing in more on WHY he left.

This show was total junk!! If this is an accurate depiction of Harlan Cobins work then I am glad I’ve never bothered to read anything he’s written. I doubt that the case though, this whole business of Josh ghosting Kat for 11 years was just stupid. The story at the end didn’t save the BS that went on all 6 episodes. Btw, what’s the deal, for DS’s not carry firearms in Great Britain?? She never had a gun until the end when she got the bad guys. Btw, Fool me once was bad too but not as bad as this

The worst Harlan Coben adaptation. The choice of actors is completely miscast, with the exception of Richard Armitage, Steve Pemberton and James Nesbitt. And the only good actors have the shortest appearances, and another good actor only lasts the first episode, but this is already clear after 5 minutes. The rest is reminiscent of a morning soap opera, with numerous logical errors and sometimes disastrous dialogue. It's a shame, because the basic idea is very good and with good actors it could have been something. Perhaps next time we should focus on acting qualities and not on supposed political correctness.
