BRAINTREE from Old Photos (copyright free version)

Here is a short film made from some of my Father's old photos. All are taken of our home-town, Braintree in Essex, and mostly from 1945 onwards.
This is a copyright free version which should be available on all devices. I have an original version on my channel which includes copyrighted material but that is sadly not available on phones, games consoles and some other devices. Personally I feel the other music works better on the original but as it only has limited availability I have produced this second version.

Great memories.Went blackcurrant picking to save up and buy my first little Ultra transistor radio from Poulters. I was then able to listen to all the pirate radio stations that had started up...

Baughans @1.25, they had a factory in Braintree were I worked that produced frozen pies and sausage rolls. @2.38 Visionhire, mum used to rent a telly from there.

Will probably be moving soon so I figured I'd say this: Whilst not even being old enough for my parents to have been alive when these photos were taken, I find it very interesting how much this town has changed over the span of 40-50 years and how seemingly more lively it was back in those days. Like most days I walk around town and there's probably less than 1000 people I see walking around. Nowadays this town doesn't seem to have much of a personality in my opinion and I kind of wish it was more like it was in those days with more shops open and stuff like that (I don't actually know what it was like in those days so correct me if it was actually worse back then). This town will always mean something to me as it is my childhood town but overall I just wish there was more going on here.

Also a random question, has anyone noticed the increase of cats going missing recently, like most general areas have at least 1 or 2 missing cat posters, if anyone thinks they might know why let me know because I find it a bit odd.

Thoroughly enjoyed these pictures. Was a customer in Osborn's shop from the moment I arrived in Braintree in 1975. Bought my first locomotive kit from him and my first ever (lethal..IS-12?) superglue (this was before it was even called superglue) Are these pictures taken by the same kind gentleman who looked after me back then? (Steven Duhig). I believe he retired to the West Country/Devon?

Hi, many thanks for your interest. I'm sure that would have been my Father who served you. He retired to Halstead (not as far as Devon,though his daughter, my sister, lives there) and passed away about ten years ago.

Best way is to hover your cursor over the pause button and click every time there's a photo you want to look at for longer, then restart.

LOL... Braintree in Essex gave it the name and is a much more interesting place IMHO.. LOL!
