We enjoyed your walk Alice. Loved seeing the gants/corridors in Braintree. Never knew what a gant was before. The Hilly Gant was hard to imagine as a Tavern area and it was neat to see it had it's own lockup. We enjoyed all the gants and the history you relay! Thanks so much for bringing us along.

Thanks Dave and Kathy, a fascinating piece of history. I spoke to some Braintree residents and they never knew about them.

Absolutely loved this Alice, Pigs Head and Pottage Pot Gant is fab... it would be so interesting to go back in time toothed day it was named. Thanks for posting 🙂👍💞

Where the Kaspa's is now, next to Bailey's Gant, there was also a bar and nightclub called Bailey's for my whole childhood, growing up in the 2000s. It closed in 2016. I assume it was named after a person, the same way Hilly's Gant was

It's quite possible it was named after a person, and the nightclub was named after the Gant. Not too sure, as I couldn't find out. I did know there have been many bars there over the years.
