I used to be so addicted to playing games and in recent years, on social media. And over time, my mental health just plummeted. I used to read instruction manuals for games while eating breakfast I didn't sit down much and read proper books; except maybe a small one here & then. Just a few weeks ago, I figured 'Screw it' and just sat down and read a book I purchased a few months ago at a convention. Then after that, I got onto reading the Harry Potter books after years of telling myself "I need to sit down and read those as they're different from the films". And I find I'm a whole lot more focused while reading than when I do anything else; even video games don't hold my attention like they used to. So, it feels very refreshing to just sit down, relax and read for a change as my mind is one to struggle with concentration; at least in recent years, it's been difficult. Nearing the end of book four (The Goblet of Fire), and I don't want them to finish, I'm having too much fun with them. But I'll move onto something else soon enough after the final book; I have a decent backlog that have been put aside for years.

Whaou.. i desperatly try but i struggle a lot with concentration it is à True nightmare but deep inside i'd love to read, i think about it every single day but im afraid to struggle each time... any advice mate ??
@h.amz.a22625 жыл бұрын
@@Pablo-ig7tx the advice is read books and over time your concentration will increase and your memory and your love and passion to read more books... i have a similar story of this guy, i used to play video games and smoke weed and i abandonned books until 1 month ago i decided to quit smoking and gaming and start working out and reading books. At the 1st 2 weeks i though about stoping cause i coundlt see any results and my lake of concetration and bad memory put me down but i watched a video about saying that reading books and traing and eating healthy will heal this problem so i kept going... in 2 week later i could see a huge increase in concentration and memory and i can read more and more every time. So that is my advice to you based on my expirence. I wish you a healthy life. And excuse my english. Peace from Morocco.

As a child I loved books but I didn't get far because I became discouraged by those who read faster than me. I didn't read through a full book till I was 15. Since then my reading comprehension and speed improved. Now in my 40s I read 10 books a month. My oldest son (17 yo) had been very discouraged that he had difficulty reading because he has Dyslexia, I got him an audible account, he loves that he has this option. Don't let discouragement prevent you from picking up or downloading a good book.

Besides my family, books are my life. I started my children off in life reading to them every night even as babies and now they're college graduates with Masters Degrees and have high-income careers. If anything this country should do, I would say 'Make America Read Again'. Without reading and acquiring knowledge, we are sitting ducks - allowing others to shape our lives, opinions and thoughts. Those with knowledge and think for themselves are invincible. These individualistic thinkers are what governments fear. They prefer the group-think of the masses. And we know, or should know, what happens when group-think occurs. Reading - and imagination - are the keys to understanding yourself and the Universe around you.

By-the-way, when I was a boy growing up, I had a lazy eye that would go in when I played ball and concentrated for too long. Kids would tease/mock me horribly and I always sought refuge in books. As a result, I was reading at the 11th grade, sixth month level when I was in the sixth grade. Thanks so much for this wonderful gift! Oh yeah, and I became a writer which i had dreamed of since I was in the second grade.

I am such an avid reader. I usually have at least 3 books going at any given time....reading is so important to me, and something that Im truly passionate about. I just can't comprehend the notion that there are people who don't like to read, and therefore never read at all.

When I was younger I didn't use to reading books, but now I read laterally everyday and it's been a year that I've been reading everyday none stop. I'm so proud of my self because reading actually is so important and it is a great tool for even your future, and I actually regret that I didn't start reading books since I was younger but I always remind my self that's never late and I'm still 16 so I could do whatever I want.

I agree all points in this video. When I was a student, I hated to read all kinds of book. I forced myself to read because I had to. The consequence is that my vocabulary and writing skills are poor. I have a difficult time to organize my ideas for both writing and speech. After graduating and starting my career, I start to love to read books because I have a lot of motivation for my advance career. I want to become a manager, so I need to improve my communication skills.

Whatever book I pick up is my current favourite. I love to read! At the moment I resonate with Dr. David Hawkins work..."Power vs Force", "Truth vs Falsehood"...etc. I find tremendous value in being able to glimpse into the minds of a variety of authors on a variety of subjects. Thank you for the video.

Reading is my adulthood habit. I don't know exactly why I started to read, but I love to read almost everything, from newspapers to mag, from online articles to books. I read at least 2 books in a month. One is on self improvement and other is ofcourse novel. It's really fun and knowledgeable exercise.

I have enjoyed many good books, but my favorites are about environment issues, medical breakthroughs, healthier recipes, and vocal training. books about politics are on my list too. I started reading before age 8 and haven't stopped since.
