Brake Caliper Replacement, WEDGE STYLE CALIPER C30 AND MORE

I've been working on brakes for 40+ years. First time I've ever had to remove this style of calipers on a friend's chev. Took me 20 minutes of wtf this and wth that, crawling under the truck looking for some caliper mounting bolts or something resembling a first world system. I tried to find some exploded view or description on line, finally coming across your video. You saved me a tremendous amount of time, thanks for the video.

Ya no shit....I have a 75 winnebago itasca on a c30 chassis 350 v8 etc...I went to do the front brakes and had a duhhhh moment! I watched this video got about halfway through it then went to the rv and had that caliper off in 2 minutes 😆🤘

have a question , once you remove the caliper do you have to remove the caliper bracket to remove the rotor / hub assembly ?

No you do not, I think its built onto the spindle

Thanks for uploading! I just bought an old bus that's built on a C30 chassis, and it has these type of brakes. Unfortunately, the bus has been sitting so long that either the brakes are locked up, or the hubs themselves are locked. If the hubs are seized, how can I unseize them?

if your hubs are seized it would be best to remove them and grease them and repack them with grease and new bearings

You forgot the most important part that was the installation of the spring lock

I figured that was simple, just smack it with a hammer in place once the piston is in place

@@TattsForLife that seems to be the only part I'm struggling with. Do you set the caliper in place and then pound the spring and the plate through? Should the plate be on first??

@@lydiabruski7630 you pound the spring and plate in last, sometimes u half reuse your old one, the new ones are junk and never do work right

It would have been nice if you had shown how to install the new clips on the pads. I have a setup that wasn't complete and all apart so I have no idea where it all goes.

Did you figure things out? I’m replacing my Bendix calipers and got a single spring clip with my caliper but darned if I can tell where it goes. The old one fell off before I could see where it sat.
