I'm a city boy, who's main mode of transportation is the subway. Every time I have vehicle issues other than a flat I would run to a mechanic. I've decided it's 2022, I should be able to do what others can do. I watched this vid 3x. Went and purchased brakes, spacer and ratchet. Your video played through the whole process on repeat. Only thing that wasn't covered which scared me for a moment was replacing the caliber. I had to push the piece that receives the screw back in. But thank you.

Lol I love how I feel exactly like you.. City boy myself and started really driving with my own car 2020.. I've learned a lot and only now finally I'm like fuck I think it's time to learn more.. cause brake pads are $50-$100 bucks .. and going to the mechanic means an additional 200-300 bucks 🤦🏾♂️ plus any taxes

I always assumed changing brake pads required draining the brake fluid and avoiding getting air in the lines so I was always worried. Today I needed to change my brakes and decided to look up how it's done. Wow, this is a way simpler task than I imagined. Changed all 4 brake pads and saved myself $200+ taking it to a mechanic. Nice job. Hint.....if you wish, instead of totally removing the 2 guide pins..... loosen both, but ONLY remove the bottom pin...and keep the top pin in-place to act as a "hinge" for the caliper portion you removed.....in this case just swing it up and tie it down so it doesn't accidentally swing down whle doing the work. You still have full access to remove and reinstall the pads.

Best advice is to look at the pads before removing them so that you know where they go. On my 2009 Chevy Silverado the pad either the metal wear indicator goes on the inside but what’s even better is that the inside pad has a flat edge that matches the flat part on the caliper with the other pad and side of the caliper being curved.
