Hi I have just ordered some bremsen pads which I think we're the original ones do the original ones have centre clips on them or not as it has on these ones if you could help please

You should be using a silicone based grease on sliders as those are rubber compatible. Copper grease is petroleum based and degrades the slider boots pretty quickly which can cause water and dirt ingress + premature seizing/binding.
@BradPhilpot5 жыл бұрын
josh winn there isn’t any rubber involved. Just metal sliders.
@Mart68235 жыл бұрын
I'm almost certain that the Alcon calliper setup on these aren't sealed anyway, which in time will make them bind or seize. Big design flaw and very expensive to replace callipers & discs.

nice video mate. I'm doing mine tomorrow, and doing the rears aswell to some tar ox. any reason for not putting Cooper grease on the back of the pads?
@BradPhilpot5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No reason. I just didn't want to get any copper grease on the face of the pads. Good luck!

Hi James - just on the normal jacking point (sorry that isn’t super descriptive!) it should be in the manual though!

Great video Brad. How have you found this car on track? I’ve sold my m140i which was great on track, but been thinking about one of these potentially.

I’ve driven these at a few times on track And they’ve always been lovely. Check out my Nürburgring videos in them on this channel.

Hi. Do you know if there are aftermarket replacement discs? I've heard that replacement form Peugeot is over£1000
@BradPhilpot5 жыл бұрын
Patryk Bernat hello! There are some on the market but at the moment they aren’t much cheaper than the Peugeot (Alcon) ones. They’re about £800. Speak to Comkotes Tuning as they told me yesterday they had some available: www.comkotes-Tuning.co.uk
@patrykbernat59615 жыл бұрын
@@BradPhilpot Thanks for the reply! Also, how much mileage do you think you can get on the standard discs? Daily driven car, no track days, occasional spirited run on b roads. The Peugeot 308 Gti looks very interesting, but when I found out about the costs of discs I've been put off slightly. Do you think that installing different big brake kit, perhaps used, would be cheaper in the long run considering the cost of oem discs?
@BradPhilpot5 жыл бұрын
Patryk Bernat well so far, I’ve done 26,000 miles on the standard discs doing the kind of driving you’ve mentioned and they have at least 20,000 miles left in them. So 35-45,000 miles I would say with normal driving.

@@BradPhilpot that's good to hear. Looks like I'll be one the lookout for one. Just need to convince the wife it can be used as a family car with a baby. It has one of the biggest boot in its class. I think only Octavia is bigger. Are there any common issues?
@BradPhilpot5 жыл бұрын
Patryk Bernat I’ll be completely honest, I don’t know of any common issues. The engine itself is extremely strong because it’s forged, and it’s pretty well over engineered in terms of brakes and suspension. The best thing about it for me is the Jekyll and Hyde nature, where it’s a practical family car getting 45mpg one minute, and a brutal track day monster the next. Have you seen my ‘308 GTi takes on the Nürburgring’ video? That’s more of a general review over an extended weekend trip across europe, so might convince your wife!

Bradley I'm really suprised that good professional driver like you uses such a bad quality pads like EBC. I'm former rally driver and I wouldn't even touch them. You have so many excellent brands on the market like Ferodo racing, Mintex, Pagid, Endless,Carbon loraine,Performance friction and I try to guess why you have chosen EBC ? Sponsorship ?
@BradPhilpot5 жыл бұрын
malboro555 Hi - in my experience these are an incredibly good brake pad. I use them every day in extreme conditions at work (high performance tyre testing). I’m interested to hear what you think is bad about them?
@malboro5555 жыл бұрын
I tested them about 10 years ago (they were much cheaper than famous brands) and I wasn't happy with them at all. Maybe they improved quality thru the years of testing ,but I remember soft pedal, weaker compare to competitors,low friction level ,tendency to overheating, glazing,cracking and low reliability(quick wear). All good rally and racing teams use only brands I mentioned and I never heard that some of them use EBC. Personally on street cars I prefer Ferodo DS 2500 or CL RC5+,good stopping power, discs friendly, stiff pedal and good feedback.
@BradPhilpot5 жыл бұрын
malboro555 I would say a lot can move on in a decade. In my experience (I was on track using them just today!) they have none of the issues you described. They’re really excellent.
@malboro5555 жыл бұрын
I'm conservative in this respect and I rather stay with my choice, but according what you say they improved a lot and if one day I see any WRC team use EBC staff I give them a second chance.
