So, I watched this video and got all jazzed about getting me some Porterfield R4S sport brake pads. Only to find out they are out of stock on your website. Do you know when you will be getting them again. Or is there a suitable substitute. I have an 04 NB with the 'sport 10.6" rotors.

Noise has nothing to do with compound. Noise is caused by how the caliper and or caliper pistons contact the back plate. For this reason, pretty much all OEM brake systems come with steel shims. These cut the noise to or mostly to zero. If track pads don't come with metal shims, it's a good idea to reuse the OEM ones. It makes track pads, like a Gloc R10, completely silent on the street, from my experience.

Shims certainly help minimize noise, but compound is definitely a factor.
