Thank you guys so much for talking about all of these important technical attributes of your car. It makes me so happy to be a miata owner that a premiere outlet cares about self-help and taking the initiative to learn how to do it yourself!

*Jeremy: Thank you for your information-rich presentation. You raised points of consideration previously unknown to me and answered questions I did not know to ask but need to know. Particularly your explications concerning flow patterns and low flow/short dwell time non-linearities. Your knowledge of fluid dynamics is truly impressive. You are long on the common sense we all need. Thank you also for including the critical word: "repeatable". Respect!*

So the 2.5 injectors for nd2 others are selling won’t do anything with 93 octane and natural aspirated?

Will my AEM 340 pump be an issue with the NC turbo kit FM is working on? As far as I can tell my NC appears to be running fine on stock tune with it. Fuel pressure at idle increased from around 58psi to 63psi. Short term and long term fuel trims look fine under various conditions.

Your shopify store interface sucks. I need to log in and can't. It is overly complicated. I just want to look at my order history. The email code is not working and it is the same number on separate attempts.

Ethanol sucks! its horrible first off and secondly it tears up everything it comes in contact with. I hate it, theres literally zero benefit from using it
@tomhunter91

Definitely not zero benefits if you tune for it but alright...

@@tomhunter91 lets hear the benefits of ethanol. I am open to hearing if Im missing something. It has destroyed everything I have put ethanol gas in, lawnmowers, vehicles, all manner of small engines etc etc. On top of eating away rubber components and gumming up carbs and fuel systems it makes engines run like garbage, but I'm open to hearing these benefits.

@@BillyBlaze7 Ethanol is terrible for small carbureted engines that sit around a long time between use. It absorbs moisture from the air which can corrode the tiny needles that regulate fuel in a carbureted engine, and as you say, it can degrade rubber components in the fuel system if they're not designed to handle it. Modern engines since the 2000s are all designed (in the US anyway) around having at least some ethanol present with gasoline, so they use rubber/plastic components that don't degrade in contact with ethanol. All modern cars are also fuel-injected, so they don't have the issue that carbureted engines have - it's still not a good idea to let a car running a high % of ethanol, (e85) sit around without running it, (a few weeks is fine, months is probably not). The main advantage to ethanol is that it has a much higher resistance to knock than gasoline. Pure e85 is around 110 octane, and even in the winter time (when the % is closer to 50% than 85%) it's at least 105 octane. Thus you can run a more aggressive tune than with 91 or 93 e10 gas. Additionally ethanol has both lower energy than gasoline, and evaporates at a lower temperature, both of which ironically allow you to generate more power by burning it in an engine. You have to inject roughly 30% more fuel per cycle than you would with gas, and this fuel also absorbs more energy from the engine, which causes more cooling within the combustion chamber, and allows more efficient use of that fuel to generate power rather than being wasted as heat. This is especially important in a turbocharged engine. It's also cheaper per gallon than gas, although you need to use 30% more to travel the same distance, so that's basically a wash. You won't save much money running e85 vs gas, but you will be able to develop more power as long as your ECU is tuned for it and your injectors are capable of providing the additional fuel needed. Many cars can run e85 with a simple tune, but many others will need both a tune and bigger injectors. Best to also install a flex fuel sensor so that you can run regular gas, e85 or any combination without having to reflash your ECU every time you want to switch between them, or if e85 is not available, etc.

@@jgalt99 i have a NB1, it runs better on non ethanol and every other gas powered engine i have dont like the ethanol either. for me i will take non ethanol any day. everyone i know hates it for the same reasons. but the world has many people and everyone likes different things, for me its garbage tho
@jgalt99
@jgalt99 Жыл бұрын
@@BillyBlaze7 You have to actually tune your engine to see any benefits from higher ethanol formulations, otherwise yes it will run like shit because your ECU is assuming you're running e10 and won't be injecting enough fuel for efficient combustion. Where I live it's impossible to find totally non-ethanol gas unless you go to a specific gas station that sells it for farm use and then it's much more expensive than e10. e10 is the standard everywhere in the US, and I would be shocked if you can tell any difference whatsoever in a fuel injected engine running e10 vs e0. Carbureted? Oh yeah, absolutely; ethanol is terrible for carbureted engines that are only used occasionally like lawnmowers, weed whackers, chainsaws, etc. That's why there's a whole industry out there selling small quantities of non-ethanol gas for those use cases, (TruFuel, etc).
