Have a good source for parts. When these cars hit 10+ years old, many components start failing and must be replaced. They are a sweet ride when you're just drifting along down the highway.

John Ferguson yeah i only plan on using it for summer and only on nice days ..im buying it with the hopes to keep the milage little to none ..the xjr of that generation is due to skyrocket in value

Robert DIY thanks for the great read robert ..these cars scare me as well i know this may sound kind of stupid but id really like to buy one of these just to preserve in pristine condition ..with them being as bad as they are and i am well aware jaguar electronics can be scary i believe in 10 to 15 years time a pristine condition xjr would be much appreciated and then i would have a real gem on my hands ..im only 30 now but when im 45 id love to have an 04 xjr as my "classic car"

I believe the torque on those pins is 25ftpds.

I think that it would have been a good idea to re-surface the rotors on the front. They looked like they had a large number of grooves but still plenty of meat on them. It also a good idea to slap a straight edge on there to see if they're warped. Did you use some copper grease on the back of the pads?

No, brake lube. The rotors are not warped, you'd feel it in braking.

The other thing that I forgot to suggest is the brake hoses might need to be replaced. I stopped the rear brakes squealing on my V90 by replacing the worn out brake hoses. They got too soft though there wasn't any cracking that I could see.

Mr Robert. I had a local guy replace my 4 rotors and brake pads.. but this guy had no idea how the electronic system worked. So after he replaced the rotors and brake pads the ABS and the TCS warning lights came on. When I told him he said sorry dude i have no idea.. probably take it to OReileys and they will clear the code. Any idea why these warning lights came on and if it’s going to cost a lot to fix the problem. Please advise.

Robert DIY I did scan it and I got the following messages P1111, P1260,P1672,P0128, B1318, C1155 Don’t know what they mean and if I should take in the car to the dealership? And if so how much will they charge me to fix all the above issues? Can a local mechanic shop be able to fix these issues or is it best to take it to the dealership? Thank you sir in advance

I think this video was useful, but it could have been better by including some other important parts of the job, like removing the clips and attaching new ones. That is one of the most difficult parts of the job and you didn’t show anything about it.
