Didn’t really expect to learn anything new, kept watching because cinematography is just amazing! And did pick up a couple tips along the way!

Awesome tips! I usually pre-clean the inside of the caliper and the pistons with a childs toothbrush and alcohol. I didn't think about using a Qtip to apply fluid to the pistons, but lubing the pistons with appropriate brake fluid is the point. DT

Thank you sir. Q-Tips should be a vital addition to any toolbox. 🤣

Good video. I’ve been wondering why my rear pads are rubbing when everything seems fine. Well i guess it isnt!

Give it a try - might work for your situation, and thanks for watchin’!

When you are pushing pistons you have to open your lever bleeder because it can damage the diaphragm specially on magura
@colbster2234 ай бұрын
I did everything you said but now the brakes barely work, does that mean I just need to bleed them?
@RideOC4 ай бұрын
Possibly. The line can get air in of the pistons move out too far

replace it with cable disc brakes

I am much more careful not to push the pistons out too much - they may fall out, and then you have a mess. Therefore, I block them with the worn pads, or a piece of plastic. In my experience, it's better to first wash the caliper with soapy water before using brake cleaner. When fastening the caliper to the frame, apply brake pressure to make sure you have good contact already. Don't forget that new pads take a break-in process.

Good call. Having hr pistons come out makes it much more of a project.

and how often it should be repeated

I do this anytime I replace pads, or if I start to hear my brake pads dragging. for me thats an indication that the pistons are gunked up a little.

@@RideOC I had a magura julie, it worked well for a few months, but after that it didn't work at all, cleaned, washed, disassembled, it kept scraping, the wheel barely turned, now I have a cable disc and no such problems at all

Sram dot grease on your sram pistons
@RideOC3 ай бұрын
that works too. I was in a pinch and didnt have that but that's the way to go, for sure.

@@RideOC ya for sure, it’s kinda a pain cause it’s 30 bucks for the smallest size container which for the average person is more than a lifetime supply 😅
