Replaced switch and checked fuse even put new 1 in but still getting stuck in park, if I leave plastic bushing out it comes out of park everytime, what could be going wrong help please

You said this would help with cruise control. I have break lights and I can shift. I’ve already checked fuses and 3rd break light. Changing this out could it fix the cruise control

I have a legit question when I start my truck and it runs for a few minutes three beeping noise and it goes like beep beep beep sauce for a second and repeats itself four to six times then it will stop and depends on how far I drive and if I drive for a long time it will repeat itself what do you think it might be

I bought the switch and the light don’t come on because the brake light switch is loose and I don’t know how to adjust it to not be loose

One question: how does that switch prevent shifting out of Park?

When the vehicle thinks you’re not applying the brake, it won’t allow you to shift into park.

Exactly. I have since learned that there are 2 sets of contacts in the brake light switch housing, so I opened the housing and used a continuity tester and needle nose pliers to tweak the contacts that let the vehicle “know” that the brake pedal has be depressed. It works flawlessly now! Thanks!

I have a 2007 f150 and my brake light turns on either when i drive and blinks for a little bit then stays on then when i turn it off it stays on but if im parked for about 20 minutes it turns off. Do you know what could be the issue?

It sounds like a wiring short of some sort - are there any other lights on or anything like that? If you can correlate it with another system that turns off and on at the same time you might be able to get an idea of where the short is

@@LemurMonitors i tapped on the panel to see if it would go off and it did. So im assuming its the cluster?

@@LemurMonitors no its just the brake light that comes on randomly but everything still works theres no issues but i can tap where the vent is and i can make it turn off. Im hoping i can squeeze by and pass my inspection if i can get the light to go off long enough. Can that light be cleared out by a computer?

My shifter sometimes gets stuck in park and I have to stick a pen in this hole under the steering wheel to get it to shift. Would anyone have a clue of what I need to replace to fix this problem

I'm having the same issue. Brake lights work, but have to hit pedal numerous times to get it out of park. Did you find a solution to this issue on your truck?

@@michaelschwenk9743 well I think so I put in a new brake switch and haven’t had an issue yet so I’m thinking I fixed it lol it was getting stuck every few days and it’s Been a few weeks since I changed out the brake switch and it has not gotten stuck yet

What's the reason for disconnecting the battery?

Just a good habit when messing with anything that has a electrical connection. Not necessarily a must for this job.
