No matter if it was due to family issues or something else it's not something that should be taken as a joke nor should u be proud. He didn't drop out at 17, he came out at 17. But you don't really get that full picture until the 2nd verse/bridge where he expands on it. This is is why I can't stand the Blackbear version because it replaces the portion if the original song that gives its central meaning
