Ah yes, I remember the part in Dracula where Johnathan Harker slayed a dragon at the bottom of a catacomb and in the end engaged in a duel with a red-armored samurai knight. Truly a classic.

I like how the most dangerous enemy in the game is not a 20' tall guy with a whip, nor an actual friggin' dragon, nor Dracula himself, but rather some bottle-tossing drunks just randomly laying about the place.

Dorelaxen Haha that name. Dracula was certainly better than the abortion that was The Godfather 3. I'm glad that at least he improved as he went along :)

The movie Dracula was excellent, I thought. Even though it was Coppola, it had much more of a David Lynch feel to it, with the bizarre costuming and set design. I know Reeves gets criticized for the role, but I feel he was simply miscast and did the best he could. The movie as a whole was certainly better than the awful Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, that's for sure.

Dorelaxen I loved its production. The visuals were awesome. But for me the casting killed it. Gary Oldman was fantastic, as usual, and I like Keanu and Winona both, but I didn't think it was a good fit for either of them. Those fake accents were so cringey, but maybe I only think so because I'm a Brit. Either way, I'd take them a thousand times over Sophia Coppola in GF3. Imo she single-handedly destroyed every scene she was in. Without her it still would've been a bad Godfather movie, but it would've at least been watchable. Right there with you on Frankenstein. I've never been able to sit through the whole thing.

I've heard so many bad things about Godfather 3 I never actually watched. Don't get me wrong, I'm a connoisseur of bad movies, often binge watching them back to back, but I've never heard one good thing about GF3. And really, come one. HOW can you follow up on Godfather 2 with anything less than an absolute masterpiece?

Just like the movie, Bram Stoker's Dracula on the SNES isn't what you'd call a masterpiece, but it's well-suited to a few hours of mindless entertainment.

Nice reference Issac, anyway on Console Wars they compare video games in terms of Graphics, Sound, Presentation, and Gameplay. Most of the time it's which version is the Best: Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis. But every once in a while they will do a which version is Worse. Bram Stoker's Dracula on Super Nintendo was deemed the worse of the two.

NintendoComplete Quite a few. Color-wise, the SNES looks the same... mostly, but it makes some very poor color choices the Mega Drive version does better. The sound however, is missing a lot of music the Mega Drive game has. Gameplay wise, it's a no brainer. The SNES version is much worse. Cropped screen, barely any invincibility frames, poor boss battles, loading times, etc.

To be fair, in what other game can you fight a gigantic, mutant, straitjacketed Tom Waits? Also the soundtrack is amazing...almost as if it was made for another game. Or maybe they actually worked diligently on the music and then everything else suffered the Christmas rush curse.

Yeah, Psygnosis was one of those companies that was pretty hit-or-miss with the quality of their games, but you usually couldn't fault them for presentation. Their games usually looked and sounded amazing, even if the game was naff. Agony was a perfect example - it was an Amiga game they did that looked and sounded impossibly good, and didn't play well at all (at least, not in my opinion).

I truly remember this part in Dracula where Jonathan fought against a dragon at the bottom of the catacombs, a giant Tom Waits and even went on a 1-1 duel with a red armored samurai knight running around with a sword. Along with Gary Oldman shooting fireballs and running fast just like the Flash Definitely what Bram Stoker envisioned when writing Dracula

It amazes me that whenever I look at the video gaming versions of the 1993 film Bram Stoker's Dracula, its all about playing as Jonathan Harker as he's described as a complete badass where he's swinging his sword around swiping down at foes as if they where paper. And if we bring up the Sega CD version, it gets even more crazy where he goes as far as punching and kicking Dracula . . . freaken Dracula right in the face! So just imagine of what would happen if Francis Ford Coppola redid his version of Bram Stoker's Dracula where he describes Jonathan Harker a complete badass to the very point where he's fighting Dracula's minions with a sword, a dagger, a pistol, several sticks of dynamite, even his fist and feet where he starts punching and kicking Dracula's minions and even Dracula himself, what would that be like in your own words?

...Oy. I must say, a lot of the graphics remind me of the graphics in *Puggsy!* A (in my humble opinion) much better hidden gem of a game that was made by the same team pretty much, developed by *Traveller's Tales* and published by *Psygnosis.* This certainly isn't the worst action platformer game I've seen from the era. That's saying something. I guess.

For some reason when I play this game, I get a different stage after defeating the first boss. On this playthrough it looks like a library, but on the one I'm playing it looks like a barn. I don't get it. I'm stuck on that stage and can't figure it out because it's not coming up on playthroughs.

It looks like the designers didn’t bother bringing their “A” material here - Johnathan doesn’t have a specific sprite when standing still, so it’s a little off-putting when he immediately goes full speed after stopping. There’s definitely something off about the hit detection on the throwing (and bouncing?!) scythes, or whatever those are. I’m glad that they didn’t just put a graphic saying “1-Up” for the extra lives, but seeing that little doll bounce instead of standing still makes me think of something you’d see in a beginner’s computer design class.
