Nice job.. just doing similar knife and bolsters for first time, i thought that i should use same steel on boslters, but now i will look for that steel u used. I'm using N690 for the blade too and cocobolo for handle.. this video might really help me a lot, i have really basic tools for knife making and im little worried how those bolsters end up. It's my first knife for sale, not just gift.

What is a tracker knife used for?
@BrancoCustoms5 жыл бұрын
It is used for camping, survival and bushcrafting, the two different blade profiles are suited to different chopping and slicing and wood splitting tasks. :-)
@IrishBoondockSaint5 жыл бұрын
Everything... I know I use it all the time just takes some practice and know how...
@IrishBoondockSaint5 жыл бұрын
Granted I should say in a survival Bushcraft living situation it is the best... Granted some disagree but most of them are not really out in the woods for months at a time ... And most play with it for a couple weeks the whine about it... They don't really put it to the test or them selves for that matter.... I would trust this knife over any other... Why because I have carried it through out Europe, Africa, and the America's useing it for months on end.... Along with the Scout knife and a Thomahawk and Saw.....

All that fancy metal work is great.but like me,most guy,s dont have kilns and all the machinery.im just guessing that all this can be done without most of the exspensive machinery that you obviously own.if i had the knowlwdge and tools you have.im guessing again that i wouldnt need to watch this video!!!.although its not really gonna do 99.999% of normal guys any good to watch this video for knife making information.all this is great though.you seem like a true knife making pro..i highly doubt even big brand knife makers take this amount of detail into there knives...all i could do is buy a knife from you,and have a feeling id have to take out a loan to do just that.which defeats why im trying to get into making knives myself..if it takes this amount tools,material and decades of knowledge and utter detailed skill to make a knife(i might at well stick to buying them instead)but ill keep looking for a designer who isnt making the lamborgini of knives..ill take a beat up ford pickup built in your garage..looks awesome though.your a true craftsman.had no idea of half of what you were talking about,but neither do i watching a jet being built either

Ok 1. why did you put a Bolster? 2. Why Stainless Steel when the Tracker Knife is made with 1095 If I remember correctly making it stronger and better then Stainless Steel? 3. Why did you epoxy the handle when the handle is made to come off so you can turn the Tracker knife into a Spear if need be same as the Scout knife that compliments the Tracker 4. why did you not FORGE this knife… It looks great and all but you can have shinny or sharp.... Sorry this is a wall piece not a working piece
@BrancoCustoms5 жыл бұрын
Hello, Thank you for your comments. This knife want not created to be a exact copy of a genuine tracker knife. If someone wants a genuine tracker knife, then it is best they go and buy one from the original makers. This is made to be a nice knife for pleasure usage and an item of aesthetic beauty as well as being functional. Stainless Steel for low maintenance, and only to be used as a knife, it does not need to be tied to a spear. N690 is a hypereutectoid super steel that is way superior to 1095 easily 4x the price just for the steel, AND much more expensive and complicated to heat treat, and to forge it would ruin its exacting qualities. Genuine tracker knives are not forged, they are made in the same stock removal method as I have used here. If thee genuine ones were made of 1095 they would be easily twice the price and no one would buy them... that is likely why they use 1095, which is also a great steel.
