Been a Mercury guy for 30 years but bought a Yamaha 50 last year for my duck boat. Best motor I have ever had. There is a reason when you go to Florida and look at all the boats, most have Yamaha's on them. Not the prettiest motor out there, but a reliable one.

They’re fightin’ for second. I love my Suzuki DF50A. Lighter weight than the Yam or Merc, and has a great tiller handle! I visit some smaller no wake lakes, and really enjoy the troll mode for bumping the rpm up just a bit to stay at a no wake speed but faster than idle. Also it’s been a joy to run! Bummer it only has a 15 amp charging, but even using my Helix 7 even with the motor off using the starting battery it keeps it charged.

hi, here in europe lots of people complain about their df50a of blown headgaskets, cracked cylinder heads...something is off with that 50 hp. way too many people selling those df50 for pieces with the same issue "smoke through the the joint" etc... what year is yours?
@chevyon37s2 ай бұрын
@@GuitarTherapy144 mine is 2024. Nearly 30hrs on it and no signs of any problems yet. And frankly I haven’t seen anybody with the DF40, 50, or 60 that use the same 3cyl engine have any problems here in the states.

Ran both on camp boats in Canada this year and hands down Yamaha 50 takes it. Smooth and quiet all the way around and pushes a fully loaded Lund at 26 mph with three on board. The merc has unbelievable (scary) right hand torque that does not go away until you get out of the hole and get to max trim. Also the tiller on the merc is clunky and the trim switch turns at the end of the throttle so up is down and down is up at wot unlike the Yamaha where the switch is fixed and easy to use. Yamaha all day!

There are two Suzuki 50’s to pick from. The DF50A and DF50AV. Difference being the AV is made for heavier boats and has a lower geared lower unit and made to turn a larger diameter prop and it’s heavier than the A version. Comparing the Suzuki 50’s to the Yamaha and Merc the Suzuki’s are 3 cylinders, and the 50A is a bit lighter (229lbs) I recently picked up a DF50A and have it on a 17’ duck hunting boat, love it!
@allanweseman54333 ай бұрын
I have just purchased a DF50A Suzuki back on May 8th/24 and had it out for it's first run June 8th/24 (I did the complete installation) Engine is an inline 3 cylinder that is DOHC with the cams driven by a chain running in oil on the bottom. Engine is 941cc and is almost totally silent at idle. My old Suzuki was a DF40 horse that was only 815cc but had severe corrosion issues. I plan on never running this engine in salt water. It does have 4 sacrificial anodes in the upper water jacket. Starts absolutely instantly. Everything about this engine is beautiful and I got a super deal on it at $4,990.00 but had to buy an additional adapter cable for $200.00 to rig it to my old control box and a Harbor Freight engine crane to install it.

Great info on your brand battle, However I would like to see this on a 90 hp motor. unfortunately to me my 1984 Johnson V4 gave up the impeller quit on a typical summer florida day with the water temp hitting 88 deg. it is quit literally toast. This boat is a Cajun Blazer bass boat which is still servicable and ready to repower soon. Now this boat with a Michigan prop modified would run at 49.5 mph on my GPS. I am leaning towards a Suzuki due to the cost but options are still open. your suggestion is and would be appreciated. Love your channel and watch it every week.

Different topics but...looking to buy the first bass boat, and got two boats in mind 1989 Ranger 320v vs 1992 Stratos 264v...both have a Evinrude 88spl motor. What is the right pick between the two?
@Bassmada3 ай бұрын
Had a 320v good boat solid and fly's on plane but with a 90 it may be harder to get upon plane sometimes. I had the Johnson 110 on it. It's great for 1-2 people. Rod locker fits a 6'6 i think, 2 livewells. Because the majority of the weight is in the back, and no storage up front I would fill the front livewell for the extra weight. Other than that it was a great boat and caught alot of fish on it. I had a screen at the console and one on the bow with a Maxxum trolling motor. I swear the build quality on that was almost better than my newer ranger.

Dirt bikes, snowmobiles, quads, road bikes, pressure washer, lawn mower,three wheelers,outboard motors, stand up jet ski, and a piano. None of them had any problems other than needing basic maintenance. Something tells me you are a brand snob who has never even owned a yamaha product.
