The combo of the pure yellow and ruby red is STUNNING... and I'm normally all about the blues and greens... Looking forward to the next Colour Spotlight series as well. The last one was great because it was a lot of colours I use and love. This will be great because it's mostly colours I don't use. Looking forward to seeing something new!

Man, I wish Jackson's had had their Schmincke sale a little later, this would've sold me on several different colours 😂 That Phthalo (Helio) Turquoise in particular... But now I know for next time! And it's so wonderful to see Brand By Brand resume. Glad you've settled enough in your new place to continue. :) (!!! A Perylene Violet Color Spotlight! 😍)

Welcome back Denise! I like your selection, especially the underrated Phthalo Sapphire. I'd probably swap out the Green Earth for a less staining blue like Cobalt Teal (PG50), Idantherene Blue (PB60) or maybe Payne's Grey. But Payne's would be easy to make with the remaining palette colors. I'm a purple girl tho so I'd also want to try and cram Quin Purple (PV55) in there somewhere just on general principle. 😁

Thank you so much for this!! I'm interested in your Viridian suggestion as for a green granulating color. I have that potter pink and I agree it runs fast XD But it does re-wet considerably easy. Love the bits of pink that appear when you mix it with other colors.

Thank you for another awesome video Denise! You are so well informed and have a true passion for this medium! I have avoided this brand because of the high cost and the availability of so many other desirable brands, that said I have recently been trying to construct a pastel palette and Schmincke is a renouned brand in this medium. Almost but not as hoity-toity sennelier! Another watercolor brand I have issues with! I am probably going to try the pastels before I get any of their watercolor paints! Although once again you tempt me with your passion and joyful use of this brand, are you in league with every watercolor paint company? You certainly drive our desire for new color selection and purchases! Really just my attempt at humor, keep doing your amazing work! Thank you again!

Soooo cool to see your take on making a palette with these 🥰 Haven't been as restrictive with mine and myself as you've been - mostly because it's the first artist grade palette I decided on making myself and didn't know which to get - but I love to see that some of those colours I got and really liked made it on your list, too. I gotta admit I didn't decide on Schmincke's because of their "physical" properties - I actually still don't know much and definitely not enough about watercolours' technicalities yet to base my decisions on it - but mostly because I knew they'd be a somewhat safe bet, I could trust their lightfastness ratings and the biggest reason: They're local to me here in Germany, actually from the same Bundesland (our equivalent to the U.S. states :3, Germany has a federal state system like the U.S. as well :3) 🥰 Though there might be more vibrant colours or more granulating ones (I love the ones I got from their range) and I'd really rather they were vegan as well and worked without the oxgall, they really haven't disappointed me yet. I love them!

I have loved schmincke's Potters Pink since I first tried it (maybe it had just come out?) I use their perylene violet with it as well as mahogany brown. I use their pure yellow in several other palettes as well... a delicious go-to yellow. Have you tried their caput mortem or olive green yellowish? Love them both so much! Thanks for sharing this great selection!

Love the picks you have made here! Schmincke is such a special brand ♥️ I have almost the EXACT same selection with the exception of the warm blue (I love their French Ultramarine) and Transparent Umber (I use their Mahogany Brown) every other hue is identical to what I have on my palette. Plus their Cobalt Green Turquoise, Ultramarine Violet and Perylene Violet. This video series is very well thought out ^_^

Hi! I am new here and a beginner in watercolor. Your color samples are very nice and neat! I love! (They are the best I have seen) I do not speak English, I understand little when listening, so I miss much of what you speak :( Help me, let me know if I understood your method: You put the pure color in the center, then you go mixing each color with all the ones you have in that same row? Hence the other colors to the right and left? (I imagine the ones on the right side are the same but more watery ....) Thanks and Hug Vilma (from Chile)

I loved watching. I was wondering if you find a difference in tranparentcy between the ( PBk31) Daniel Smith Perylene Green and Schmincke's Perylene Green? I know Schmincke lists theres as totally opaque. Daniel Smith lists theres as Semi Opaque. Where Winser & Newton lists there's as completely transparent. I have only used the Winser & Newton in the past. PS, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your picks for your top 10 favorite brands.

Love this! I'm new to watercolours, can i ask, what is this type of swatching called and how does it work. The last colour you swatched only got one box while the others got lots more?
@InLiquidColor5 жыл бұрын
Hello! This is a mixing chart,I have a few videos that show it off and explain it more in depth if you'd like to know more about it. It's not that the last color didn't get swatched, it's that it was already mixed with every other color previously due to painting left to right. There's a still at the end of the video where you can see the whole chart and see where each pair of colors meets.

It's a pretty unique color. If you dilute Indian red heaaaavily, it can tint out for a similar earthy pink, but I think most people use PR233 for it's granulation :)

I’ll have to buy some snacks and beverages for each of those videos. I like to treat each of your videos as full length films. Also, I am confused: The Vermillion I purchased is, if I didn’t go colourblind, definitely a cold colour...which threw me off immensely...could it just be that there was a mixup in the wrappings and actual pans? I cant explain a Vermillion being cold otherwise.
