Hey Claire, greetings from New Zealand! I was given 3 official samples of Fantasm and I also sprayed myself all over (perhaps embarassingly so) at the counter... I am baffled! I also get the pinnapple during the first 20 minutes(ish), yes, the coconut stays throughout the fragrance wear, however I do agree; there is something plastic in there (almost like silicone), and I also get something spicey and warm, like chilli or cinammon. In fact I sprayed myself with regular Angel on one wrist (I cannot wear it anymore as it turns vile on me sometimes), and Fantasm on the other, then I blew into both my wrists (like what you're supposed to do with those "adult" massage oils), and the Fantasm wrist became instantly warm, but not the og... so there's definitely something in it that isn't disclosed! Also, in the deep dry down, the fragrances smell very close! The Fantasm is just a bit fainter/lighter, last less than the og, and has that dry/powdery coconut that lingers... I am so confused and, though it does project and last, I'm not sure if I like it or not, yet... So your review is music to my ears, because I think that Fantasm, like the og, is a very temperamental fragrance with a mind of it's own ha ha.

Oh I'm so happy that someone else smells the plastic/ vinyl. I thought I was mad 🤣 it sounds like you have thoroughly tested Fantasm! I have a bottle of both 90s and 2000s vintage Angel EDP and to me, Fantasm is very different in style with patchouli to those. To me, it smells more like the modern Angel EDP. I absolutely loved the 90s version that I had but I finished the bottle this week as it was snowing here and that is the best snowy fragrance 😭 there was so much liquorice 😋 in the 90s version. I love NR For Her line, unfortunately, Musc Nude is a big NO for me ☹ I tested it twice and I got lots of something harsh and synthetic from it... I'm so glad that I didn't blind-buy it 😂

Your reviews are always complete and interesting. You are precise in the description but you also give a personal interpretation for every fragrance you speak of. As for the 2024 releases: for me there are too many rose-based scents: unfortunately, the rose is a note I can't wear so I am not enthusiastic about most of this year new perfumes.

Your Daisy Wild thoughts really struck me, I don't like L'imperatrice, and have not loved Wild. Now it makes sense! I don't dislike it, but so many of the other MJ fragrances rank higher for me. It's nice to hear your thoughts on these. I fell in love with Musc Nude on first sniff. Went to the store a week later, tested it again and bought it using my Shoppers points. It reminds me of Musc Noir Rose without the plum and warmer powderier... Daisy Wild is beautiful, but I'm still not sure I would want a bottle. I really enjoyed the new Chloe. I see it as the "winter version". But it also reminds me of Nomade, which I like more.

That's a good idea actually, I have a lot of Boots points to use. 🤔 I agree, I don't want a bottle of Daisy Wild either, but it was a pleasant surprise to smell it. 🙂 I can see the Chloe being more suitable for winter, I loved the raspberry 😍 I wish it lingered longer though. Claire! Musc Nude has been an obsession of mine since it came out. It's interesting because I don't get along with any of the other Narciso fragrances. I think that their unique musk is not compatible with my own skin scent, so I am always quite repelled by them and need to scrub it off. HOWEVER. Musc Nude is a totally different story! I haven't bought it yet, but it's only a matter of time. I spray it on almost every time I visit a perfume shop. I'm glad to hear that you like it, because it generally got quite negative or indifferent reviews.

@dr.claire.perfume I heard many people say that it was a skippable or reduntant scent from NR, but for me it was the bee's knees. To me it doesn't smell like any of his other scents. Nor have I smelled anything too similar. If and when you do get a NR For Her, do let us know which one and why! Would love to hear your reasoning behind it 😊

It is musky in a shampooey way for sure! I think with brands and lines like Marc Jacobs Daisy, I'm not expecting something wow, but I was shocked by how fruity this smelt. I struggled with Divine, the watermelon calone like chemical that I can't remember the name of made me nauseous 😂 Gorgeous Orchid isn't me but is perfectly wearable. 🥰

I did think it reminded me of the insolence one, at least in my head, wish I'd had the chance to compare them! I think I’ve got to try Daisy Wild and the Musc Nude release from Narciso Rodriguez. I bought the original, original, original Chloe ages ago. I loved it but it was closer to Halston back in the day. The bottle had a similar design, if I remember correctly. I gave a bottle to my Nana. She loved it more.

Gosh Chloe has been around a while! I remember having my bottle of that flanker before I started KZbin and that wasn't one of the first fragrances in the line! I think the Marc Jacobs, it's mostly what you'd expect from a Daisy flanker. It's nothing ground breaking, but the banana bubblegum took me by surprise 🤣 I think the comments on this video reveal quite a split with the NR, let me know what you think! 🥰

Haha I know, I do occasionally feel like I'm tasting fragrances. Montale tropical wood is one I particularly remember for that. Paradoxe type smells are everywhere aren't they? It's been a super common scent profile in the last few years, I guess other brands saw the success and thought they'd try it? 🥰

Hi Claire. The only new designer perfume I’ve tried is Barenia. I was allowed one spray on the back of my hand before it was locked away in the glass cabinet🙄 I’m not sure how I feel about it. I like that it’s different from being another fruity floral, but will need to try it again I think. Re Narciso Rodriguez, have you tried Santal Musc from their oriental line? I was in a big brand store shortly after a gang of 5 had struck and they had literally taken every single tester. Yes Narciso is obsessed with rose 😅 I didn't really love the original All of Me, not that I disliked it, but it was pretty unremarkable to me. I almost wore Paradoxe today, I have a travel size.. but when I sniffed it from the bottle it just seemed too sweet.. at least for today! My first time hearing reviews on Fantasm and Million Gold. Unfortunately I have a little buyer’s remorse for my 2024 pick of Alien Hypersense. I initially thought I really loved it based off of my sample sooo ordered a FB and now it’s more of a like. It’s not terrible, perhaps a bit unremarkable. I’ve been interested in sampling the new Donna Karan releases this year; they look interesting. I smelled a sample of Ariana Grande Pink Woods and liked it surprisingly. Definitely want to sample the new Gucci Flora..some say it has a slight banana smell, but I wonder if that’s a subconscious reflection of the yellow colored bottle. Great video as always ❤

Thank you ❤️ Yes, weirdly my Hypersense sample smelt much nicer than a bottle that I later tried in store. I've not really had that experience before. Oh yes, I've seen those gold Donna Karans all over, I've not tried Pink Woods. The new Gucci Flora for me was just crazily sweet! I could perhaps imagine it smelling like banana foam sweets perhaps, but yes, it could also be the yellow bottle. I will sample it again with that in mind. I can't say I got banana in the first three tries though. 🥰

A great summary! Honestly speaking I don't really enjoy any designer perfume release recently. They are usually too weak, and also too sweet or too floral for me. The last one I really enjoyed was Nerolia Vetiver Forte from Guerlain and in 2024 probably Hermes Barenia was the best but still I wouldn't buy it as it's too sweet for me. It's really funny that nowadays perfumes like Barenia are considered controversial while it's just a nice, feminine scent with very recognizable Hermes vibe and good projection/longevity (which is rare these days). I don't know if Jo Malone is designer or rather niche but the new Hinoki & Cedarwood is quite nice.

Hermes do tend to go their own way, one of the only truly independent fragrance houses left I think, despite attempts to take it over by LVMH. Someone else mentioned Hinoki and Cedarwood. That's why I liked Nerolia Vetiver durng summer as it was even slightly bitter 😀. And recently I started to enjoy classic chypres that my mother used to wear and I hated as a teenager 🤣. Yes! Definitely get a sample of Fantasm! I so very almost blind bought it. 🤦‍♀️ There were bottles from travel exclusives for sale before its general release, so I could have bought it back in May / June when general release was September here. I'm so happy that I didn't 🙈 it just wasn't for me. I think I'm the oddity though, people seem to love it. Having said that, I do have a 90s and 2000s bottle of Angel so I probably have pretty fresh memory of what vintage Angel actually smells like and this isn't that for me. The patchouli smells just like modern Angel to me. 🥰

I have seen lots of people say it's super spicy actually so that doesn't surprise me. For me it went very fruity! The next day it was like roasted peaches. I also sprayed Guidance one time when I sampled Love Delight and Guidance I could still smell 5 days and several showers later. Wow does that linger! Weirdly I was given two samples by someone and they smell very different to each other, it makes me wonder why. 🥰

Hi Claire! I thought the new Angel smelled too similar to the OG in the dry down which is my best friend’s perfume. So it’s a pass. I quite enjoyed All of me Intense more than the OG but it’s not unique enough to buy. I want to strip down my collection of Narcisso R to Musc Noir Rose only. They are all nice but too similar at the end for me. Pure Musc and Poudrée are the one I’m trying to finish because I sold the other ones ( red cube and Fleur Musc).

I tried very hard to like Fantasm but I just couldn't 🤦‍♀️ after trying it a few times, I wore my vintage 90s bottle of Angel and loved it 💙 sadly so much that I've now finished it 😂 but I have another from the 2000s still in my collection. I agree with you, the intense is nicer to me than the original for All of Me, it's a bit more interesting. And yes, the NR Musc line are much of a muchness. I want one, but only one! Yes, I don't know who gave the final yes to that, but wow, I wonder whether they smelt it. PdM has never been a love for me because of the amount of ambroxan and iso E super they often use, but there are some scents with personality still. Here with Palatine though the cashmeran is punching and very little else! 🥰

It's lovely isn't it? Probably only the other fragrances that I mentioned in the NR lines like Musc Noir, Musc Noir Rose, Narciso Poudrée are similar to me. Really the Narciso Rodriguez musk is very distinctive, but what you might consider similar is likely dependent upon exactly what aspect of Musc Nude is important to you. 🥰

I sampled Love Delight, but for me it was a tad sweeter than my liking. Rather just ok, so I wouldn’t like a bottle. Unlike Guidance 46, which stole my heart (and emptied my bank account).

@ 46 is not as airy as the OG, sandalwood is quite prominent in it, however, it‘s a little less loud, but still quite room filling (3 colleagues chased me down in the lab). I think it‘s more wearable than the OG. I pretty much loved the OG on the clothes, but not on skin. I‘d say if someone could not pull the OG due to skin chemistry, the 46 could work its magic instead. It is otherwise 60-70% same, just incense is toned down, while sandalwood is amped up.

Maybe violet was more expensive than cashmeran so they skipped it 😅. Ah Love De💩. Yes not awful smelling but insanely familiar 🙄. I think given the price range and the brand it's possibly the most dull and disappointing fragrance of 2024... I love love the perfumer too. I would be lost with all the Daisy flankers. It sounds not too bad at all. Probably the best in the video yet 🙊 and a third/quarter of the price of them? The Gucci sounds OK maybe but caramel is a struggle for me. There are so many of these Guccis now. Yes you are quite a NR fan. It sounds not too bad at all tho it does sound like the one I have quite a bit. It's a shame with the all of me one. LOL I know you hated Palatine, I think for me it was the most underwhelming PDM I've ever tried. I normally don't love them but I at least hate them, there's at least some reaction. But for this, just indifference... Love Delight wasn't bad at all. I understand why people might be disappointed by it though. My socks were very much still on, but it was pretty. Daisy flankers just go on and on don't they 😂 they never stop. You'd hate the Gucci 😂 but not as much as the last one 😉 All the NR for hers are much of a muchness, I would like one and only one. I do enjoy them, but I don't need all of them. I like the one that you have. 😊 Angel Fantasm was a huge no for me. But I wonder how anyone can think that's like old Angel, it smelt nothing at all like my 90s vintage bottle. It does however smell like the version in the shops now. Paco rabanne were clearly splashing the cash 😂 I don't understand how there's been this almost overnight shift to cashmeran... It's almost like ambroxan went up in price... 🤔 Oh, hang on... You know I don't think I've even sampled any 2024 designer releases. I was expecting more from Maison Margiela, but they have only released Afternoon Delight in 2024. I tried Barenia from Hermès in store but I wasn't taken with it. I guess its mostly all just flankers from the designers this year 🤷‍♀️

personally really wish they would slow down with these new releases. There are far too many of them and I also feel like vanilla is taking over everything and I do like vanilla but I am over this tend, especially super gourmand vanilla.

Mugler by Loreal is flop after flop. They ruined the brand so bad l want to cry. Literally today l've got 5ml sample of Chloe Intense and it smells pretty much the same as the original maybe a bit sweeter

I've not found one that I like yet from them. I keep trying the new ones because I'm curious, but I'm so pleased that I didn't buy Fantasm. It was cheaper before release because of some travel exclusive bottles that were flying around, but I really dodged a bullet for me by sampling. 🥰

The 2024 designer releases are so mediocre and boring, so disappointing. The last good ones were Burberry Goddess 2023 and YSL Opium Le Parfum 2022. D&G Devotion 2023 was nice too. Also, the 2024 bottles weren't that impressive either.
