Good afternoon Nick George & Phillip, I've been waiting to see what this 541 Hemi will make on the Dyno. I remember that this was a build for the street, and the parts weren't that radical. I'm thinking 640HP & 660 TQ. Nick's Garage is a great place to be on a Monday afternoon, especially with a big Hemi on the dyno. Let her rip Nick!!

Now I'm no expert like these two, but with aluminum heads on my 400 ci Pontiac engine I had the initial timing set too low. I know these two are giving total timing. I had my initial timing set at 9 - 10°. On startup it would blow the air cleaner off. I called Edelbrock and they told me it was a slow burn combustion chamber and that aluminum heads can take a bit more timing than iron heads. I know completely different setups and engines. Always great to see Nic going through the problem solving with numerous testing and changes to parts as needed. Always looking forward to the next episode!

I think what you are referring to is the starter fighting against the locked out timing. I think Nick probably could have gotten the motor spinning with the starter before activating the ignition to start, or pumped the carb a few times to purposely flood it and then crank it with the throttle held wide open instead of having to move the distributor to start. Nick knows what he's doing, though. Best not to question a master's techniques😊
