Subbed! I love this new song by Jinjer, always love Jinjer! I've done some amateur dabbling in music, but I love hearing musicians talk about Jinjer, they're just so good! I love the portrayals of Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Marie Curie and (I think) Georgia O'Keeffe, although since we know Tatiana loves Frida Kahlo (as do I) because of that tattoo on her arm, I will always think of that character in this video as Georgia O'Keeffe on the outside and Frida Kahlo on the inside. Great reaction, Nik! Thank you for bringing the fantastic music of Jinjer to more people! ❤️ 🖤 🤘

One thing I appreciate about Jinjer is their vocal melodies are really interesting. So much of "metalcore" (not all...but a lot) has vocals that if you stripped away the tuning and effects/reverb would be pretty boring. But Jinjer's melodies are actually interesting and they don't lean on effects first and foremost.
@uncle_thulhu3 ай бұрын
Scientist: Marie Curie - discovered radiation. Artist: Frida Kahlo - very important Mexican painter. Queen: most likely Cleopatra, possibly Nefertiti. Warrior: I also first thought Cersei, but much more likely Joan of Arc. Although I'm hoping it's supposed to be Olga of Kiev. Who? Put it this way - if Sabaton haven't done a song about her yet, it's only a matter of time...

As some of the greates jinjer songs (for me) Im a bit unsure at first listen at what to think, and for each time I hear it, it just grows on me.... But as some Classical nerds says, the greatest Classical pieces take some listens before they crawl under the skin
@ahmedelshaer49183 ай бұрын
exactly this!, there a pattern with me and finding a song I didn't listen to before from Jinjer, I listen the first time, I don't know if I love it or hate it, couple of days pass, I relisten, and I will be repeating it a lot for the next 3 days or so.
@oldscratch35353 ай бұрын
That's why I don't introduce anyone to Jinjer. Its not immediate dopamine pop garbage so you need to have an attention span longer than 10 seconds and you need to understand music. That's not most people so they won't get it nor will they put in the time to get it. I felt the same way about practically all of their songs. I don' hate it, but I don't love it after a first listen. After hearing it 20 times I start to see the genius in it. I feel the same way about Meshuggah. It took me years to be able to see what people were raving about. I'm so glad I persisted.

Honestly, I've been kind of disappointed with the direction of Jinjer's stuff since Wallflowers. I love their sound, lyrics, and personalities (which I think you can really hear in the music), but the proggy stuff just doesn't do it for me. Their earlier stuff is some of my favorite music to listen to (Who is gonna be the one, Sit stay roll over, Just another, etc.), and I miss that straightforward song approach. I think they mastered the balance of prog in their middle albums (loved micro and most of macro), but the more recent stuff somewhat exceeds my prog tollerence 😅 I say all this with a lot of love though, and I'm glad they have continued to grow as their sound has evolved.
