JUJU is def something i would watch with my kid. Love the name, love the music, love the voices, story telling, no lack of detail in the graphics. Catchy in all aspects and goldmine for merch. "Son of a gun, you did it again" will be such a popular phrase and a great shirt 😅

So I have some mixed feelings about this one. One thing I am not confused about is the music. It's AMAZING!! I think you should hit up some of the more established KZbin metal rockers, like 331Erock, FrogLeapStudios, DEFINITELY Violent Orlandi, pellekofficial, and Dan Vasc. They love anything rock and metal, can turn anything into such, and would probably very much appreciate what you are trying to do through animation and the story you are trying to tell. The gender dis-identity references are perfect also. Not too much for a takeover, but not too little, and DEFINITELY right where they need to be. "A Clothing store doesn't get to tell you who you are". Whoever wrote this needs a raise. What I am mixed on is the direction of the story. Is this an OCD young rocker girl trying to make it big, or just trying to fit in, or both? See seems to have some neighborhood friends, so the end music lyrics are confusing. Does gender dysphoria have a role in this? Is this more about the music? I think that personally, it should be focused on the music which is awsome already. Maybe JuJu retreats to the music when life becomes too hard and helps her work through whatever comes at her, but she ends up writing something that could be comparible to the next Mozart/Rockstar/or w/e. (Incidentally most famous composers both historically and present day tend to have hidden OCD or other type things that no one hears about until later, but gives the music a whole new layer of meaning.) You could have music writing guests as mentioned above and more, and even ask them what type of episode plot would speak to them personally, and the lyrics may just come pouring out. I see some awesome potential here, and I hope it gets developed further with more "catchy music" that helps JuJu get through what the rest of us consider normal everyday life.

I was reading thru all the gushing comments hoping to hear some good notes and finally Brian had some good thoughts that reflect my thoughts a little. I love everything Pencilish stands for and is doing and I think everyone here wants them to succeed so badly that it can be harder to say things that are a critique. My notes are Brian adjacent. The art was fabulous, nailed that. The audio mix had some idk if it was complete dead silence in between dialogue. I'm not an audio mixer but as someone who's listened to cartoons and watched movies for 41 years it sounded ... Idk ... Off somehow in a small number of places. Maybe it was missing a cohesive background noise like how the enterprise always has a low level thrum continuously in the background. I agree completely with Brian on the story arc comments. My biggest hangup was that it leaned into the multicam sitcom tropes. Falling at the bottom of the stairs, all the characters laughing after the joke about parachute pants at the end, etc. I felt like I never lol'd. I was just getting to know this JuJu and it was a bit awkward in the process. I love that she loves rock n roll even though I don't personally. I love that she sings the commercial theme song to Plain n Simple even though I've never heard it, and her mom joins in! I feel like the jokes needed polishing and/or it needed some more laughs somehow. The heart was there in that y'all laid out a solid baseline for each character. The eye candy was there but the jokes weren't matching the level of visual production. To sum up, this feels like a show that will hit its stride mid season and have a fabulous fourth/fifth season. Will we get episodes that are 15~20minutes in the future? I sure hope so.

This was very off for me. Great art, cute message, but the pacing and sound/music mix was awkward and made the viewing experience slightly uncomfortable. It feels very much like a show written by old people - aimed at much younger kids, talking down to them in a condescending way. The falling on stair joke is too childish for middle school kids, while the pants joke is too old. I am not trying to be a jerk. I am being honest, because I LOVE Pencilish Studios and want to see you succeed. I know a lot of hard hard work went into this and honestly I really hope your target audience disagrees with me and will love it :) Also, I really recommend spending some of the investment money on a professional KZbin manager, so your shows will get off the ground. Like Tom Martin, Matt from LittlemonsterMedia, Derral Eves, who has worked with MrBeast, or someone similar. There are many great strategists who can help you. Right now, your metadata strategy is a bit of a mess.
