At81EX has very quickly become my favorite gummy for PNW Enduro. Pretty much everyone in our crew runs them, and loves them! Been running them for the last 2 years with 0 complaints for the single track winter time slop

Hawaii jungle trails have mass icy roots. A lot of guys run trials tires with tubliss at 2-3psi. So far I haven't found a front that works as good as the perilli mt 16. That's been my setup for a few years now.

I have had a couple AT81EX so far and they hold up very well in soft terrain, I haven't had any side wall issues running low pressure. Those deep woods loamy trails look great for a slow technical ride, that tire works great for traction on a climb as it does equally for braking.

A couple of my buddies use the AT81EX. I measured the durometer the same as the JX8.

I'm in a mostly dry climate but the at81EX is the best tire I've tried yet. Much better then the jx8, a little better then the xt454, but the xt454 has almost 2x the life. I recommended the at81EX to my buddies that did silverkings and they both loved it.

I love the AT 81EX. The tire gets better traction than most tires on the market. Especially on the wet roots and rocks. I've ran the jx8 a couple of times as well and the AT81ex is superior in traction over it. The only downfall of the 81ex is that it doesn't wear very long. U get what u pay for tho and traction is a premium. U really need to try the Mitas XT-754. It is the best tire I have ever ran, especially for this time of year. I will go as far and sat that it is the only tire that I will run now. It is the best tire for the PNW woods gnar!

The 754 is discontinued. Looks like they’re still around, but the new replacement doesn’t come in double-green. It looks so similar to the VE33s that I haven’t tried it yet (big aggressive knobs, but not quite a “super soft” compound).

@WASemiHardEnduro discontinued? I've bought 3 of them in the last 6 months. Maybe they changes something and I'm getting the new tire, but anyway, it's like the ve33s, which I've ran many times, but way better. The knobs are spaced out a more and the tire doesn't chunk out. It's amazing how the tread is so deep and doesn't chip or chunk. The rubber is also more gummy than the ve33s.

@@ridgerunnersmc1414 Right from Mitas’ website: discontinued. It’s probably all old stock being sold at this point. www.mitas-moto.com/en/products/discontinued-tires/xt-754 Edit: must be recently discontinued - the replacement EX-XT doesn’t seem to be in the US yet.

@WASemiHardEnduro thanks for the info! The new one looks identical to the 754. I didn't think that they offered the harder compound before. Looks like new options now. I order all mine from Trailbound Co. Hopefully he will stock the new one when it is released in the US.

I think the one everyone has been running is the “new” one. Has a green stripe and says super light on the sidewall, anyway. Same tread pattern. I’ve been getting mine from Chris too.

Yup! A couple of us spent a bit digging that out a few weeks prior. I was almost stuck there when it was wet and kept sliding down the hill.
