I’m in the market for a new amarok. I’ve looked at loads of videos. This is absolutely the best and most in-depth review I’ve seen of the vehicle. Very thorough and well researched. I want a commercial vehicle so this with the back seats works better for me than the landrover defender hard top. Great video 🤙

Declining segment? Not in Australia - dual cab ute sales are booming
@jeremysmithers8352Ай бұрын
The UK government has just killed this segment. Company car tax will be over £500 a month from next year onwards.

I bought a Style model in New Zealand. Very happy with it, wanted it with a v6 but not available in the in NZ. The economy of the two litre is winning me over, and tows my three tonne caravan OK. If I could change anything it would be to delete the engine stop/start and auto lights. Always look forward to long drives.

My friend, you don't know what a pickup truck owner wants. The new Amarok has solved several problems. 1) big engine, v6. It's an N1, the taxes are low (especially in Europe), everyone wants 3.0. only corporatists brainwashed by globalism buy 2.3 ton pickups with 2.0 engines. The consumptions are close, but the power is incomparable. 2) the possibility of permanent 4x4 on any type of surface. These cars are difficult to drive in mixed conditions, in winter, with a classic 4x4 system. 3) huge ground clearance. 24 cm is the largest in the range. The Hilux is 217mm...a mess. 4) the maximum depth of the water does not come from the ground clearance but from the positioning of the air filter. it is the solution of the old Ranger that allows 80 cm of water. 5) the towing hook solution that no longer kills the release angle, like the old hook model, very important in off-road. Amarok is a great car now, the only problem is if the technical solutions will be reliable in time and easy to service.

This is by far the best review of the Amarok here on YT. I've watched so many of them...😂 It would have been nice though, if he really took the car an a REAL offroad trip but I immagine you can't have it all 😂 5 stars on this review

No mention of the shaking characteristic coming up through the floor which VW Australia say is inherent with this model and is operating as intended in my June 2023 delivered Pan Americana.

No matter what model or specification, I do wish they would dump the various ‘sport bars’ available above the loadbed and bring back the actually useful ladder rack to secure longer loads to. My 2.0 twin turbo 200hp 500Nm diesel with ten speed automatic averages 32 mpg on Welsh mixed roads with no dual carriageways or motorways. This compares with my older model 2.2 diesel [only 150hp 350Nm] with 6 speed auto at 27mpg on a good day.
@hedydd27 ай бұрын
I get a fairly consistent unladen fuel consumption of 33mpg from the 2.0 bi-turbo. Better than that on a long journey below all speed limits. I never bother with Eco Mode. Towing takes consumption up substantially depending on the load pulled, the terrain, the driver and speed. It can reduce to around 22mpg.

Doesn't the rear seat fold UP to make the backsat flat for carrying cargo back there ?

In general these have better specifications and styling compared to the Ford. However, does it have the excellent heated windscreen that Ford fit on most of the range? More models have the wider digital dash with fake analogue gauges. These have five year warranties verses three. Some don’t have a load liner where Ford generally supply that. The Ranger Wildtrak is available for around £42k + VAT complete with metallic, electric roller cover and optional 20” wheels and tyres, tow hitch but not the power pack which would include wireless charging, surround cameras, a pre-wired roof mount auxiliary switch pack. The VW has superior lights as well. You get what you pay for basically. The VW is better equipped per version but costs more than the Ford. It’s all very off because the Ford Wildtrak does have heated steering wheel and windscreen, both of which I appreciate very much, along with adaptive cruise control and all the other great stuff. Frustrating is the start stop and lane keep assist which default to on with every cold start

there's no heated windscreens on any of the Fords
@hedydd27 ай бұрын
@@cooljool1 Where do you live? Most Fords in the UK have heated windscreens and both my 2014 Ranger Limited and my 2023 Wildtrak have heated windscreens and the original windscreen in the 2014 model was changed last month for a new replacement heated screen. If you have a Ranger and have not discovered its heated windscreen, I urge you to RTFM.

It looks much nicer than the current Ranger, more like the 2014 T6 original Ford Ranger. Forget the V6 Ford Lion diesel, which is based on the old Range Rover unit known to have a high failure rate. The alternative 2.0 twin turbo is more than powerful enough and matched to the excellent 10 speed automatic it is far more economical than either V6 or previous engine choices. These are fundamentally commercial vehicles and anyone buying one that is not VAT registered is likely to be not very wise. There is, after all, 20% VAT to be reclaimed plus extra tax reliefs. The only version not qualifying for VAT is the Aventura luxury version which has softer springs and the lower 650kg payload, which is way below the 1000kg required to classify it as a commercial vehicle, making it a very expensive rich person’s toy, just like the rival Ford’s Raptor version.

Not in australia
@hedydd210 ай бұрын
@@Zaynabimosleh2356 In Australia the Adventura payload is down to 800kgs from the standard Panamericana and lower grades of 971Kgs. This compares with the over 1000kgs of European variants apart from the Adventura. Australia does not seem to get DEF/Adblue NOx catalytic reduction system either.

@ It really is an excellent heated wheel. The best I’ve ever had and I’ve had a few. Does the VW branded model have the heated windscreen that is standard on most Fords? I’m a big fan of that as well.

@@cooljool1 Depends on the model and the country you live in. In the UK most Ford’s including most Ranger variants certainly do have heated windscreens.

What utter rubbish. Rides and handles way better than the Isuzu, cabin is better and the v6 punchier than the 3.0 in the Isuzu.

You talking smack, recently gone from a Isuzu to this and the VW shits all Over the Isuzu for quality, it’s power, and road handling, a completely different class. Sorry I loved the Isuzu when I got it, once I drove one of these I was hooked
@hedydd2 Жыл бұрын
The Isuzu isn’t in the same league I’m afraid. Not in any way apart from price. The next generation Isuzu has a massive hurdle to jump even to catch up with the VW/Ford cousins. Did you know that these even have optional mode with open centre diff for 4wd use on roads. Massive power and torque. Comfortable suspension. State of the art safety, convenience and infotainment system, quickly removable drawbar, pre-wiring for auxiliary parts, wonderful 10 speed automatic that is as smooth as butter and anticipates every change perfectly while making best use of engine torque. Excellent paint and optional factory chassis waxing. Heated windscreens on at least Ford models. A very roomy second row of seats. No DPF regeneration issues.
@hedydd2 Жыл бұрын
@@shaun1900 In the UK we only get the 1.9litre diesel in the Isuzu because the 3.0 does not meet emission regulations. At least it is now matched to the Aisin 6 speed auto the same as in the HiLux. However the VW/Ford 10 speed is in a completely different superior league, especially when matched with the electronic shifter that selects P on its own and has three buttons on the side. These also have Tow/Haul mode specifically for trailer towing, along with trailer selectable blind spot detection.
