You should make a 60 ft lane of wood and cover it with lacquer hand oiling it 40ft to show people how much more that surface hooked. Reactive hooked twice as much and the house that still had it in the 90s used a 44 ft pattern.

They’re decent for reactive but terrible for urethane. It hooks so early it’s almost instant and makes it almost impossible to use on most patterns. I’ve also found that when you get used to the lane surface it’s more difficult to adjust to other surfaces as the ball can sometimes roll different in others and every single other surface I’ve bowled on hooks way less no matter the pattern. I don’t even want to go into the different types of oils as this is another can of worms 😂

1-GAME Colored pin challenge (put in at LEAST 3 colored pins): SHOT: medium-hard difficulty. X with colored head pin, your score total DOUBLES (that is, 120 in the 6th frame would become 240)...HOWEVER...any colored pin left standing anywhere means your scores gets halved. Example: 120 in the 6th frame, but you left a 10 pin that is a colored pin. That means, your score would go down to 60. Now, if you MISS the 10 pin which is a colored pin means you left it again, so your scores would by halved again...down to 30). OR: You leave the bucket which has 2 colored pins in it...,your score gets divided by 4. You chop it leaving 1 colored pin again, so your scored would get divided by 8. The more colored pins youi put in, the crazier it will get. High score wins!

"Ancient" lanes? These guys are young. Find the lanes that are older than their parents. I remember bowling on lanes that were built in the 1940s. Sadly, in the area I used to live in, there was six alleys in the late 1970s, now one.
@DS-qz2gu2 ай бұрын
Can you point me to a house that’s still operating with ~60 year old lanes? I’m interested.
@n9wff2 ай бұрын
@@DS-qz2gu I stopped bowling almost eight years ago due to physical issues. Most alleys in the last few years have gone synthetic, which are more even and last longer. Again, where I grew up, they still had old lanes in my twenties. Two of them burned down, two others went out of business. There is only one left, while two new ones were built in the sister city. Try researching them yourself. I have no clue where you live. It can't be that hard to find the rare ones left.
@DS-qz2gu2 ай бұрын
@@n9wff Sounds good, I’ll look into it. I just find it hard to believe that any bowling alley would still be operating with 60 year old lanes; that seems unrealistic. Honestly hope I’m wrong though, haha.
@n9wff2 ай бұрын
@@DS-qz2gu Let us know. I doubt there are but a rare few with the old style returns. As I think about it, there is one in Appleton, WI called Tenth Frame. No underground ball return. Automated but still there. As far as the old, fifties style alleys, only a museum would have that today.
