Him and everyone in my league over the age of 55 act the same way. They're all nice at the beginning and when we're practicing. Then when a team of young 20 year olds starts winning, they throw every excuse at us. I have been told I cant have two balls on the return because it is distracting, I have been told my two-handed delivery is unfair and should be banned in our league, I have been told my style is a Cancer to the game of bowling and anyone who uses it is a garbage bowler, been told I cant loft the ball because it can damage the lanes.... Once I complain about their balls still having weight holes, then I am berated for being nosey! Nothing against the older crowd, but out of 22 full teams, maybe 8 of them don't have someone who is retired on them and every single one acts like Petey. XD I have been an avid bowler since I was a child, often my best memories were watching my dad and mom play at their leagues as a child. I always hear about how this sport is needing a new generation of players at all levels; but how can that be attained when a large majority of those who should be teaching and guiding us, turn off a large portion of newer bowlers with negativity? I throw with two hands, so what? If i am physically limited to throwing with two hands because of a prior surgery, should I just quit and find a different passion because old Dewey thinks that anything involving two hands or fingers is a mortal sin? It is a game...

I wouldn't say they're justifying, just transcribing as though it's all on the books lol. "Weber lines up, 3 and 4 board, his glasses are broken, oo tough break 2 and 8 split, the towel is on his ball that's going to cause issue for him." You can hear their true thoughts in their tone and the little jabs they leak out - "He has a striking issue"

Pete Weber saved my life. For years I was wondering how to avoid being a whiney baby about anything possible when I actually don't bowl a strike, while trying to look cool with safety glasses on, and finally learned it was always Pete who matches that description. And Jason Belmonte + Vintage = You don't know what Vintage means.

I bowled with Pete in the 80's at Dublin bowl. He was amazing with the Juniors, but when the lights came on, nobody showed more heart and emotion! One of the greats!!! On a side note, I watched Devaney shoot 279 in the finals in Escondido, California with a plastic punching bag ball before he was even in the Tour.

A nice walk down memory lane. I followed this man’s career for a long time. I modeled my game after his. He’s number 3 or number 4 of all time!! I love his trash talking. This was very little compared to what he used to be. The PBA banned him for a while because of his behavior. When you that good tho!!! Do all the trash talking you want. Fellow Missouri native. Such amazing athletes. The time they must have spent drinking beer, eating pizza, and bowling at run down establishments to get to this level is incredible. When I think of athletes I think of bowlers. NFL, MLB, NHL, WBC, and NBA are filled with a bunch of fools that spent their entire life training at gyms, traveling to other states and countries, sacrificing everything, and getting a college education for free. All they get out of it is mere millions, fame, and all the girls they want. No thanks, say the pro bowlers. They will take the fat girls, minimum prize money, and sitting in a chair all day. Again, the best athletes mentally and physically I have ever seen. The towels and sunglasses used here are a true testament to the skill these guys radiate. They should have bowling in school for kids, so they can emulate these modern day heros.
