Branded Basics Ep1: Branded Fusion Resolves, Now What?

Learn Branded Despia for TCG or Master Duel!
Branded is one of the most complex decks in the Yugioh meta right now and everyone has to start somewhere. Follow along with the series where I teach the basics of playing Branded. I'm learning the deck myself and I learn better if I make content about it, so hopefully this is of use to some of you.
The combos in the series are assuming you're playing the latest meta build (fusion deployment, low bystial count, etc.) but for this episode, it all applies no matter what build you're playing.

My go-to line lately has been (Fusion Deployment + Aluber): fusion deploy Cartesia, normal Aluber add Branded Fusion, Branded Fusion send Albaz and Mercourier for Rindbrumm, Cartesia effect summon Guignol, Guignol effect send Sprind; go to end phase, Sprind effect summon Kitt, Kitt effect add Branded in Red, Cartesia effect to add back to hand, activate Branded in Red target Albaz use it and Kitt to make Lubellion, Lubellion effect discard Cartesia use itself and Albaz for Mirrorjade, Mirrorjade effect send Albion negate with Rindbrumm, Albion effect set either Branded Banishment, the second Branded in Red, or Branded Retribution depending on the vibe I get from my opponent. Putting Cartesia on board before Aluber can dodge Imperm, and it’s only 4 summons in the main phase so it also beats Nib if you don’t have a line into Lost or Mercourier to get the negate.

Really well made video! One alternative to to the rindbrumm line you could do is sending ad libitum to grave from main deck off granguignol effect, then when using branded in white you send granguignol to grave and banish albaz from grave to go into mirrorjade. Granguignol can still activate its effect in grave, and you now have a guaranteed branded in red chimera play with ad libitum prepped. You can save an extra deck slot instead of running garura and get a much stronger end board

@@phantomsygo another thing to note, if you are specifically playing around nibiru, you can use granguignol to send Albion and use lost to add a second mercourier (if you have one). While this somewhat decreases your follow up, it also guarantees protection from nib as you’ll be adding the Merc on your 5th summon.

All the newer support (Bystial Lubellion, Granguignol, Rindbrumm, Cartesia) makes it pretty daunting to learn all the new dynamic combo lines, coming from an Branded player who only really played on Master Duel. This video helps a whole lot. Keep it up!

This is a really good primer. As someone who’s been running this deck since Albaz Strike, all of this was stuff I knew instinctively but didn’t quite know how to explain. I do have a few things to add based on my experience running the deck: 1) For Rindbrum, the line that you’re looking for is 1 more Albaz fusion after mirrorjade, as that’s ultimately what that endboard comes down to. The line you described is one of the most common ones, it’s far from the only one that does it. 2) Because Albion can use materials from the hand, you can still go for him off of just Branded Fusion, provided one of the blanks happens to be a Dark. I understand not including that to keep things as basic and generic as possible, but given the number of Darks that the deck plays, it is an option worth noting.

Its good to know the ins and outs of branded. . I play 2 branded fusions, albaz, and superPoly with my Toon Deck. Haha.. Branded Toons . I am new to game, and the packs I got had toonWorld, nostalgia hit hard and I created my toon deck.. kindof thriving really. I hit plateau with toons once. The lubellion to Mirrorjade line was the only thing I knew about this "Albaz" card.. . It would be fun playing Branded once my deck is complete..(still have some cards missing)

Slight correction. Titaniklad is a 4k beater with Nibiru. I used to use it a lot as a beatstick before i threw in The First Darklord as my designated beater. Very small distinction but it helps tick it over to something that can crack other 4k's which I think is enough to make it of note.

I like the Branded archetype due to that it can be used in a lot of hybrid strategies. My favorite Branded hybrid deck is the Blue-Eyes version. Branded makes the Blue-Eyes strategy a lot more formidable, especially with the newest Blue-Eyes support from Battle of Chaos. I also like to throw Dragonmaids in the mix as well to give the deck some opponent interruptions.

Awesome video! Just got some feedback for the albion line, you don't necessarily need an aluber in hand. Most of our deck is dark. Really common to have branded fusion + a dark monster in hand, you can just banish the albaz from grave and any dark from hand (if you are lucky you will have mercourier or tragedy in hand) to go into lubellion -> mirrorjade, keeping your albion on field to tribute for the bystial lubellion.

Not gonna lie I like going into albion by using arch lord krista as a material and then later that turn make a first dark lord with 3 dark fairies and summon krista from the graveyard to stop everyone from special summoning. First dark lord also stops the opponent from targeting fairies on the field with card effects, so no nibiru, lava golem, or kaijus and no targeting spells or traps from the opponent to worry about.

Most of the things you mention do not target (only spells and traps do) They do not target because the card has problem solving card text and do not have that word. Kaijus summon on a way it affects even unnaffected monsters, so even if the first dark lord said "fairy monsters you control are unnafected by your opponent's card effects", you can kaiju them.

But that does sound like a nice tech, as you could also summon in your oponentes MP aluber to get follow up or a big body from other despians... or Krysta, for that matter.

Nothing really in particular for OCG, maybe if you get hit with an early maxx c and have albaz access you can send Rindbrumm to continue your plays next turn by summoning out albaz on opponents turn and get into mirrorjade that way

Yeah it's honestly not too bad. I think cartesia is higher priority than the lubellion if you are thinking about getting just one, or just wait a few months for reprint.

@PhantomsYGO I can see that. The only other route I saw to getting Albion into your grave was to ignore its on-summon effect, then use Kitt to search Branded in White, and use that to fuse off Albion for Mirrorjade and trigger Albion's effect.

11:50 during this line instead of going straight into MIrrorJade go into Lubellion discard a blank, shuffle Albion and FoA in then use Lubell in GY to tribute Lubellion on field. Then you can get branded lost. Still gets you nowhere basically but at least now you have a monster to banish for Mirrorjade.

How do you do the Rindbrumm play if you drew Saronir?

Alright so without lubellion to get Lost to get ShroudedAlbion, you have to hard open the lost, cartesia, or albion to do the same play. If you do not open one of those, what you can do is summon granguignol using cartesia and saronir and send like, opening, with saronir, and send sprind from ED with granguignol. End phase, summon kitt via sprind, Kitt search branded in red, activate Red in end phase target albaz, fuse albaz and Grang for MJade, then do MJade eff dump BrandedAlbion and negate with Rindbrumm like before, and set retribution or another Red off Albion

Yea some examples might be, you already have lubellion, you already have what you want to activate with lubellion (lost), or you particularly want to set up a branded in red play for chimera or go into dragoon

a blank is a card in your hand that otherwise serves no purpose in the combo. pretend it's ash blossom. Not to be confused with cards that have value when discarded or that may improve the combo line if you have them. i'm just trying to keep the lines in their simplest forms
