Will Hudson invited us to help brand on the historic ID Ranch north of Sinclair Wyoming. We are so thankful to have been invited and to have the pleasure of meeting all of the amazing folks that came to help Will. You can't say enough about the community of people and the great friendships we have made! It was an absolute blast roping with you guys and we are looking forward to next time! Hope you enjoy the video!

Being a cowboy and doing "cowboy" stuff is the most fun you can have dressed. Not for the faint of heart. Doctoring a sick yearling, or riding broncs is the definition of a great time.

Amen Wade, and I like to remember the government works for us. We need to contact our representatives to express. Our opinions about upcoming legislation that may not be favorable for our ranchers, especially when it comes to taxation.like taxes on n family ranches being handed down from generation to the next generation.

This video brings back a lot of great memories. I was a ranch cowboy on the "Harvey Sisters' Ranch" in the Panhandle of Texas (64,000 acres) operated by the Brainerd Cattle Co. of Canadian, Texas. The neighbors around that ranch would help each other do as these cowboys did branding their calves. We did not head the calves but heel and drag them to the branding fire. That was in 1959-60. This video "Branding at the ID Ranch" is great and documents a great tradition of ranch life. I am glad this still takes place.

Yea for Wyoming cowboys!!! I was born in Powell Wyoming years ago - my sister married a cowboy from Montana so I got to experience a branding once. Much smaller scale, same neighbor helping neighbor. They actually scheduled branding in the little community so everyone was involved and what I experienced was more spectator than helper but it was fun and exciting. I remember my sister telling me a few years later she was baking bread that day, for branding.... 10+ loaves of bread. The behind the scenes from a woman's viewpoint was interesting because they did all the cooking. The amount of food needed was amazing. Of course many of the women also helped at the branding site as well. Great community and great neighbors.

@@katpraeuner9794 Thank you Kat for you reply. The cowboy life was and is a unique experience. You mentioned your sister cooking for the cowboys. The last ranch I worked at I had to prepare my own food each day and when we were working cattle, branding, etc., one of the cowboys had the duty of cooking. There were no women around since the ranch where I worked was a "bachelor " operation. I was the only cowboy at the ranch house on the day-to-day work. Great times.

The slow-mo of the rope work is awesome. I learned how to rope as a kid in Okla. an old fireman taught me how and I’ve enjoyed it ever since. I can’t ride a horse anymore because of a lower spine injury but I do miss it. I always liked heeling because it seemed more difficult… not sure why. Maybe I’ll teach my son how to rope his dog in a couple years, lol.
