Enjoyed the video. I liked seeing branding done this way, as we here in Texas don’t normally head and heel. We just heel and drag to a flanking crew. The comradery of the crew and the flow was especially enjoyable to see. Best of all, I LOVED reading the comments, and your response to the detractors.

Thanks, as I understand it, this ranch does this type of branding as a way to bring neighbors together and allow those interested to practice the old skills and methods. They also use modern methods for larger operations.

Curious cowboy culture in Spain that possibly spread to America. The long rod is called "garrocha" (similar to a spear with a very small point), but it can cause injuries to the animal, and cause its death, so in America it was replaced by the lasso (although the Garrocha is still used in Colombia ) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJzCn2SvhtGgipI

@@DrtyWhiteBoy "Our cruelty is justified cuz it could be worse, yeehaw"
@ToddSharron-fw2cu6 ай бұрын
Actually you are incorrect. This is safest procedure and least stressful way to handle vaccinations, and placing owner identification. The calves are returned to their mothers in a very timely manner reducing stress. Using the mechanical method( calf table) maximizes stress, because the calf is away from its mother for long periods of time, and there are FAR more injuries to the animal AND personnel.
