Curious cowboy culture in Spain that possibly spread to America. Actually you are incorrect. This is safest procedure and least stressful way to handle vaccinations, and placing owner identification. The calves are returned to their mothers in a very timely manner reducing stress. Using the mechanical method( calf table) maximizes stress, because the calf is away from its mother for long periods of time, and there are FAR more injuries to the animal AND personnel.
