I used to wear a yellow raincoat religiously and make a lot of aquatic references during my early days of branding as a way to stand out. My fans began to know me for the world I created around that but after some time I no longer identified with that world that I created. The transition into the artist actually want to be is hard as hell to do once you're known for something. I could talk on this forever but my biggest take away is make sure that you tell/show the story to your fans as you evolve or make a bunch of sh*t and follow what works. Also, Lady Gaga had the character game on lock in the 2000s.

I definitely agree with your take on the "one long song" from Uzi. I have an album series titled "Shuffle" where every song is different, but there's a central theme and sound.

@44:44 I think what he was referring to is albums being cohesive. I don't think he necessarily meant literally one long song, but moreso that everything flows from one track to the next without sounding like a bunch of songs thrown together. I think the point may have gotten lost in the phrasing.

I love the first advice. The problem I run into as a producer/engineer when I’m working with clients is the quality control of what files leave my studio. I’ll have an artist post a very rough unpolished draft as if it was a final mix, and it’s frustrating but I’d rather mix it for free than have an artist post some TRASH and say he recorded it with me. so getting them to see the value in everything else they need is pulling teeth at times. not ALL artists of course but being at a beginning level of journey and the clients I have access to horizontally is frustrating

You gotta work with people who are more supportive of your craft. Charge for that mix and look for more people willing to pay for a separate mix. A recording session is not a mixing session.
@MsCoolVibez

Omg can I work with you. The engineers I work with brush me off when I critique their mix. I try to explain to them my purpose is to create music I can sync and promote. Not to post just to post. Im seriously considering learning how to do it myself.

That is very true overtime I needed my songs for different ways and being a audio engineer I own and can do anything needed to any of my songs I keep all original files so it made it easier for me to make what is needed anytime from tv film catalog ask for some crazy stuff I had many songs remixed so many times I thought like why did they do that for some edm disco new wave etc but I sent only my acapella was ask for over 6-8 songs so yea it’s best if u actually have all ur music files I neva recorded n ppls studios 😂 so yea neva thought of it like that

Honestly the mood board video almost just seems like a dope music video. Of course its super high quality shots and clips with production value so that helps but the editing too, I could see something like that playing on BET back in the day or whatever

First 12 mins are some gems and I haven’t finished. What do say about producers who make instrumentals, how do we add more things if don’t need clean and dirty versions. That way our out put also have consistently to grow your audience and supporters.

Bro the guy talking in the first tik tok clip tb “BET network television versions” like man stfu lmaooo it’s a whole new world dont nobody care about BET. Even radio isn’t even all that no more man. Dude tryna get artists to spend extra unnecessary money for edits that’s meant for huge stadium size artists
