This is only true for SIGNED artists. INDEPENDENT artists with a fanbase are doing well.

True. If you work your "business/brand" correctly and you put your self in position to open up these doors to opportunities from "music" alone is unbelievable, JUST TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN THE BUSINESS, MONETIZE YOUR CONTENT, AND GET A REPRESENTATIVE!

How sad..music artist...you know..people that make music? No longer actually make money on their music..wow...

The brand has always been about 60% of the product, the problem they are having is that the brand is 90% now. Music is probably 3% now lol

Music is the product.. However, I understand that, and this time and age that way music is consume Paints a different picture, but it still holds true to music being the product.

well and then you can understand why even the talented artists with potential aren't happy with music. you used to be able to tell yourself that if you make better records than everyone else, if you kill the whole game musically that it meant something. maybe not everything no, but there was incentive to be the best at music. "if I can just out-do everybody with this album then we on" but today when an artist is asking themselves how to be successful & make an impact none of the answers come down to their music or their their talents/skills. to the actual thing they want to do. everything is like a sidequests just for them to be able to do their thing & I think that messes people up after awhile. I like marketing & branding, I'm obsessed with overall storytelling, but if you strive to make the best possible music you can & it hardly makes any difference how many people are gonna keep trying to do that?

@@darkskinwhite I still believe you gotta give it your all, and do it for passion not for money or attention but obviously we all want to make a living from our music yet that should not rob us from the riches the true riches that is when you make a great piece of art regardless of If it means not making it, I guess in the terms of label industry . Sometimes you gotta make a living out of something else, just so you can keep your music going.

It's really all perception based your saying what you wont do but thats alittle bias to me every fans mind is different you do need to check all boxes like yall saying as far as your foundation but we honestly dont know how a fan is gonna consume we can only be ready & prepared

What he is talking about is the artist vs the engineer. The artist has more ways to monetize the song because no one knows the engineer.

Right. REAL music, as long as you put at least some type of marketing, will always do OK. The International market appreciates GOOD music more than the US.

Hell yeah I agree… just wait, if you want to be the greatest the world has ever see , you have to do something the world has never seen…. And it’s all about building the brand and the labels are going to beable to stop it either. Shot themselves in the foot with the universal/TikTok deal
