totally agree, the first thing the listener hears is the performers vocal tone. that can make or break a song. I talk alot about this is in my course
@TheJustbristol275 жыл бұрын
I’ve learnt this since performing. I started off shy and now I just go crazy and have a laugh with the crowd. Your delivery is not only in your voice it’s in your whole being.

💯 I just can’t take an ARTIST serious if they don’t write/create their stuff. May be a singer, may be a rapper, may be an entertainer, but not a full packaged artist. I get the comparison to companies- but to me It’s different when it comes to art as opposed to business. But at the end of the day, people will listen to and buy what they want- and at this point, most “artists” are just figureheads/products with a corporation/deep pockets behind them so artistic integrity, as you said, isn’t something that “matters” to our industry at the moment. Most people will accept sweatshop produced songs performed by paid sponsors/actors.
@realjayjobes18495 жыл бұрын
9INE PLANETS Definitely an artist. I mean we’re talking about rappers- I’m saying people who claim to be rappers but don’t write their own music. Basically most people are performers not artists/creators.

Being able to deliver a flow and give a good performance and have that it factor makes someone a artist. Guess what great actors don't write the words and the script or the screenplay but they are great actors that give good performances and have Star quality

I think when we talk about artists, particularly rappers, your writing skills is a big part of what the lovers of the craft hold dear. This is not necessarily the truth for the average fan. They just want a dope song and could care less if the artists is writing their songs

If you don't believe it as an artist how do you expect the audience to. Delivery is hands down the secret ! Accompanied by melody and lyrics is what makes you great, but melody and lyrics alone can't carry you. Just like boxing has 3 fundamentals (Offence, Defence, Endurance), so does being an artist.

Lil yachty's problem imo, in terms of delivery, is that his tone is very much monotonous and ignorant of the the beat or key. So it's not an appealing auditory experience. Its almost as if he's reading his verse off his phone and doesn't really care how it comes across

This is 110% #RealTalk and #excellent #advice. As a rapper I'm a much better songwriter then I am a singer. I have a natural talent for writing Hooks and melodies and even course Bridges. However I don't have the strongest singing voice. So what I'm doing now is finding other people who have stronger singing Talent than I do the singing the songs that I write. But then I'll throw a rap verse on there so I still get to perform on the song as well. This allows me to be more diverse and open up my music to a larger audience.

Artists wish they could make music all day but they can’t because they have to go perform or attend events, etc; and that’s where they get caught up really. They don’t get enough time to create and they start to leech off of those (songwriters, etc;) who do have the time. I can go do for shows/tours a few times a year, but I will always need about half of the year to work on me and my music.
