I do a Gen 1 hakone, is very fun to drive and still comfy even after I put in gks supercharger

sure if you could afford to daily a bmw then the gr supra is fine enough. the supra will be out of production next year though. not sure of the gr86, which would be like dailying a lower production subaru. there is a difference compared to dailying a corolla you know, in parts availability going forward, there's more than 20 times more the market for repair parts for 'rolla of a certain year than gr86.

@@lasskinn474 When I was going to work, every day, I switched between a sportscar and car that had more storage, which came in handy for runs to Home Depot to buy potassium pellets for the water softener. But really, it's nice to vary the driving experience so that I didn't get tired of the same car. My Supra is a 2024, so I'm not worried about parts availability.

@@lasskinn474 I once worked with a guy who had two gen 1 Camaros that were in excellent condition and worth quite a bit of money. He used to daily a Corolla to "save" his Camaros. 10 years later, he died, never having the chance to truly enjoy his babies. I drive my Supra as often as I can. Life is too short.

My guess is the Celica 2.0 is the “replacement” for the Supra 2.0 that just ended manufacturing. The current mk5 Supra 3.0 ends its run in 2025, ending the relationship with BMW. I’d bet the mk6 Celica Supra debuts in 2026/2027 with a 3.0 turbo, bringing the Supra brand back in house to Toyota…hopefully with Gazoo’s assistance. Not sure what this means for the GR86.

The EVs are really changing the auto industry and even for sports cars. A BYD seal performance variant is about $40000 in my country. It is difficult to see the petrol engined sports car matching the EV's hot hatches and powerful sedans

I've been waiting. Sounds lile it will be a Toyota and not a massive letdown like the Supra. Shows a small touch of the Z.

Toyota, please don't make this an NA car. Either make it share the same engine as the GR corolla or even better make it it's own 2.5 liter turbo engine.

Celica considered to be a budget, but stylish and a fun car, that why they won't make a different engine for Celica. It'll probably be 2.0 liter engine, maybe with a turbo. I'm really hyped for a new celica

I thought the GT/GR 86 WAS the replacement for the old Celica? So if a new Celica is on the cards where does that leave the 86? On its way out me thinks! Plus an MR2 as well! If that's the case at least you have to hand it to Toyota for pushing ahead with various modern sport cars. Who else is doing this? No-one!

Mazda is reintroducing a RX series and Honda is bringing back the Prelude. Early projections look far better than Toyota. I’m ready to escape my utility box!
