Brandon Hegedus' fourth build, a Mazda rotary powered 1929 Ford speedster dubbed the Paper Bag Princess, is a joy to look at and drive. I hope you enjoy this video.

There is a magazine in the UK, Custom Car, whose one time editor had very specific requirements of what was a hot rod. It had to run period parts, flat head motor, a generator, not an alternator, cross-ply tires and drum brakes. However, hot rodding was always supposed to be about making the best of what was available. So why not run a rotary motor and disc brakes.

So sick!! What is this style of car called? (Not rat rod, but Model A rod??)
@turbominivan018 жыл бұрын
this style is called a 'speedster'. in America they were an affordable "race car" option for people looking to build a racing style car back in the 20s and 30s. one would take the old family car, strip off everything that they didn't need and do as much engine work as they could afford, then they would often race on the dirt roads and dirt tracks of the day. this "style" of car has a very long and deep history through America and especially Europe, where it eventually led to what we now know as modern Formula-1. Europe refined the sport much quicker than in America where it remained a much more home based hobby like hot-rodding, while in Europe it took off from the earliest days of automobiles with names like Bugatti.
