I'm trying to get stronger and I am. Finally after 4 years I deadlifted 500 pounds. I broke my back in 2006 and was told I'd be lucky to live my life with minimal back pain. I never let that stop me and some day I'll be at 800 plus deadlift. Stay humble and work hard.

Right at 4:40 is why Brandon Lilly is one of the best guys in this sport - you can see how genuinely fucking excited he is for Stan to get that lift. The way he's coming back from his injury reminds me of everything that i love about lifting. I don't give a shit if Brandon never breaks a world record, or even his old PRs, he's the most inspirational powerlifter out there right now. He makes me want to become a better lifter AND a better person.

I don't want to hear some 6 foot tall pure bred man talk about his stories of being a skinny kid. I'm 29 years old and can't even grow a beard, I look like a 12 year old boy yet I've been working since I was 12, I have bad genetics

nah just eat more meals add 500 callories to your diet if that doesn't work add another 500 keep adding and lifting compound lifts you will get big alot of carbohydrates and PROTIENS as well of course and vegetables genetics can hold u back but determination will never!!!
@arby.aranda8 жыл бұрын
Haha Thank for your words Dude! :D
@michaelh92518 жыл бұрын
Stay strict eat big 6-8 meals a day I would start with just 1 extra meal of 500callories either of chicken with brown rice or steak or fish or vegetables with that or really anything with PROTIEN carbs and some vegetables and get full even keep eating if your full ULL need the full if your lifting hard look up excersises like I said stick to compound as well as body weight like pushup sit-up and pullups or chin ups but mostly compound and then burn out with isolation movements in the gym do body weight excersises at home stay stict for 3-5 years ULL get big trust me!
@michaelh92518 жыл бұрын
U might have to spend alot of money on real food lol but u could get big as hell really anyone can do anything if they try hard enough do something different such as callories intake and stick to compound lifts 1.Squat 2. Deadlift 3. Bench press /incline / and decline cable flys and dumbbell work lol 4. Over head press or military press straight bar and dumbbells and machines 5. Dips of course 6. Pullups 7. This is really one but seated rows and bent over rows with a straight bar 8.And any other leg workouts stick to all of those or even the first 3 u will put on a lot of size if u add callories period more PROTIEN and definetly more carbs peace!

Why is it that even top level lifters with the best genetics for the sport don't understand the meaning of genetics. It's not about what you "look like" when you start lifting. The genetics decide how fast you can progress and how far you can go. 999 people can train with just the same amount of passion, but only one of those people will come out with a +600lbs raw squat at 19 years old. It is the genetics that decide speed of progress, as long as other factors are consistent and in check. Genetics even allow for suboptimal training and diet, and still the person with good genetics goes forward faster than a person training properly but with less genetic potential. Why such a simple concept is still so misunderstood? Plain and simple. If you get stronger faster than 99% of people training, it is not because of the external means like training system, but the response to resistance training at the level of your genetics is much bigger than with most people.
@sonnyparrotte84909 жыл бұрын
The point of this video was to say that your genetics shouldn't keep you from achieving your goals, not about how much somebody can squat after two years of training. His point is that he has crap genetics but eventually (and with an assload of hard work) he was able to overcome them. So if you don't reach your goals don't blame them on your genetics because it has been proven that, with patience and hard work, bad genetics can be overcome. I think you missed the simple concept.

Disagree, most people don't know how to train. I surpassed most people who trained for longer than me but that's because they didn't eat like I did,put in the hard work under a coach and didn't follow a basic linear program. My results werent even that amazing after 9 months (5 months of powerlifting) when I hit a 355 deadlift 308 squat (3 plates in kg), 205 bench. At 181. If everything is on point you make some good progress regardless of genetics
@jesse94976 жыл бұрын
Then suck it up and work smarter and harder, either you want to win and you outwork your opponents ( with better genes) so you still win Or you dont want it bad enough.

Is there such thing as a short person squatting or benching 300-500 pounds? Yeah, no... Not even a midget can bench that much weight.
@tsohgallik9 жыл бұрын
Oh, uhm a midget shouldn't be doing that in the first place. It's an exaggerated example :-/
