A good chunk of this movie was filmed in Lake Dallas and the surrounding area. One scene was filmed on my grandparents property. I remember watching this movie back in the 80s as a kid and seeing the area outside my grandparents house and it freaked me the hell out (remember i was young). Went to my grandparents house later that summer and my grandfather told me all about the film crew outside the house filming. The daylight climax scene near the end where rotor crashes off his bike and into a ditch was the part filmed outside their house. This movie gave me a fear of robots in movies for about 3-4 years till I realized robots were cool and then saw Robocop.

I saw the Rifftrax for this movie and man, what a mess it was. Mike, Kevin and Bill did a good job riffing on it, though, and so did you. Funny thing is that Cullen Blaine, the director of this movie, spent most of his career in animation for Saturday morning cartoons. This was his only live-action feature, though when I wrote to Phil Glorioso, his stepson and associate producer of the movie, he mentioned that Cullen had started his career directing live-action TV ads. Also according to him, the actor who played Coldyron had such a low spoken voice that it could barely be heard on camera, hence why it was dubbed in the final film.

I'll never forget when I first bought the Rifftrax rendition of ROTOR and I peeked at the comment section. There were a ton of hipster douchebags defending this movie, giving reasons why they shouldn't have riffed it, and saying some hateful things to the Rifftrax guys. What's up with that?! Odd, the copy of ROTOR I have is called ROTOR in the beginning, not Blue Steel, same font and glowing blue letters. Also, the guy with the shotgun at the beginning has the same voice, but it syncs up with his mouth and it doesn't sound dubbed, it sounds like it's a part of the scenery. I also seem to have an edited copy because he shows scenes here that aren't in the movie, like when Coldiron talks about his boss finding out that gravy wasn't a drink. I must have some made for TV version. The amount of exposition in this movie is just amazing to me, everything is an explanation and not real dialogue. None of what he and his boss talks about on the phone makes any sense, I feel like the entire scene was improvised, especially when he says he wants Coldiron to get the project done 'now' and then fires Coldiron. It's so confusing. Also, all the board members at 6:21 have a name from the Beach Boys and each one of them says a line from one of the Beach Boy's songs. Strange, but it's there.
