The blend of tone in the chorus is fantastic! Bright and colorful, woven neatly with the counter mood of the minor runs. A John Eccles investigation must ensue!

Pretty much everything film composers do or have done in the last 100 years has been stolen from the classical tradition. Mostly from Wagner, Tchaikovsky and Mahler but also from the atonal avantgarde and more recently from minimalists and post-minimalists. Hans Zimmer has made a whole career ripping off Philip Glass (of course Philip Glass has also made a career ripping off Philip Glass). Very few film composers are actually original, Ennio Morricone was one of the few who created their own sound.

From the description it is apparently an organ, although to be fair I’ve never seen an organ that looked like that. Looking for the other work of the performer might give you some more info.

It’s an electronic organ. It reproduces the sound of other organs that have had every pipe and note recorded or sampled using a program called Hauptwerk. It’s also way easier to transport...

Well, it's quite the normal intro for chaconnes/passacaglias. Just like 2-5-1'ing into a jazz song, here you start with a solo basso continuo then the band comes in. Another exemple: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKfZZZuQfpyZiaM
