Very nice! The theorbo is the coolest instrument, and perhaps more naturally suited for Baroque counterpoint than any other, with the possible exception of the harpsichord.

Beautiful.... It feels good to know that despite the fact that many people (at least through my experience) are not as aware of older plucked string intruments as they are of more recent classical, acoustic, and electric guitars, there are still people who play thesr beautifully, and the tradition is not yet (and never will be) extinct. Also, I noticed that some of the bass strings are not necessarily on the fretboard,they seem to be above it. Why is that?
@postsender40213 жыл бұрын
i think they are meant to just be played openly so no need for the fretboard to extend to them

Yes . They are called tastini.
@tehmightymo3 жыл бұрын
@@brandonacker Cool! Do you tape on different ones depending on what key you're in? Also, at 1:58, when you start that descending sequence of bass notes, I see you play vibrato on some higher note, but it doesn't seem like you actually plucked any of those strings. Does that higher note just ring out by resonating with the bass note?
