Brandon, this video may have taken you awhile but it is the best and most deliberate coverage of all the details on this bike. You're part of the reason I returned to a Indian and actually bought one of these. I've got a ICON Sport coming. I think you're starting to see how you building those bikes has allowed you to see the small details and how they come together to provide the overall experience. Effectively, you see the full picture and not just from the rider or the builder. That's a big leg up on others that choose to review this bike.

I've been riding for 45 years and a few miles. My dad rode Indians. Ive had a variety.. However, on a 4th HD (Night Rod) at present. You are one of the best I've seen regarding the latest version of Indian Motocycles. I think you do a top notch job and are one of the best I've seen on here in a sea of so called motorcycle experts. One dude went off on hating HD so much, it was like the factory had singled him out to fuck him over. Another sidewalk commando who grows a beard and gets a grave like voice to portray balls or manhood or both? No idea. Motorcycling is good with more choices to please (nearly) everybody. I like it that the new Indian is an underdog even though Polaris is not a small company. HD had AMF, and, finally, Indian has theirs after going though a host of other owners of the proud marque. I will be viewing your videos asap. Thanks man!!

This channel made me convince my Ducati Monster riding friend and I to hit the Indian Dealership here in Brisbane Australia. We went with the intention of checking out the Scout and primarily the Chief (any chief would have been fine). Unfortunately for us, the dealer had 0 chiefs of any kind as apparently the dealership can't even get their hands on them due to the pre-orders by consumers taking precedence! Both my friend and I were extremely disappointed in Scout compared to our existing bikes in the similar price point, but understand it's the entry level bike. I would have loved to have ridden a Chief but ended up buying a Harley Sport Glide which I am in love with. Still room in the stable for a Sport Chief in the future when Indian Dealerships in my city get their act together! Until then, living vicariously through you all!

@@DanielPeters-ji2pe Check out Fitzroy Motorcycles in Melbourne. Not only are they a licensed Indian dealership they also have available a service department dedicated to offer factory upgrades with ECU remaps and cam upgrades. The combination (inclusive of exhaust upgrades to match the tune) will see the entire Indian range run significantly better and at a reduced temperature. Stock availability doesn’t seem to be a problem either and they can work with interstate buyers as per what a friend has told me. Good luck.

as a old bike restorer, i like that new indians come w/ all round tubing frames. makes them look timeless and can see them being restored 50-60 years from now as classics. Harleys after the 80's frames look like abominations w/ Square Tube sections, and random tubing diameters and butt welds.

Thank you! I've been a fan of your channel for a while because of how in depth and thoughtful you are with your commentary. I'm having the hardest time trying to decide on my next bike lol, and this is one of the three I'm considering. I'm thinking Low Rider ST (most $, but set up from the factory to be able to do long miles comfortably), a used Harley Sport Glide with low miles (cheapest on my list depending on the deals I can find, but missing quality features like dual disc brakes), and then there's obviously the Sport Chief (less than the ST but maybe more than a Sport Glide, but on the upside I wouldn't have to go to a Harley dealership and get swarmed by salesmen lol, plus the Sport Chief gets more style points in my opinion). Still don't know what I'll go with, but I appreciate this video for helping me see the perks of this one. Keep up the quality content sir!

Totally enjoyed your video. Your video of the 22 chief helped me decide on getting the bike. I wanted dual disk since I've found myself a few times not being able to stop as quickly as I like but I've learned to utilize the downshifting to assist. Knowing that the dual disks bites pretty hard makes me think the single disk isn't all that bad. I did get the syndicate seat for my 22 and have to say it's amazing.

Hey Brandon.....thanks for the great video. I live in Austin and buying myself a new motorcycle next month for my 62nd birthday. I have owned 4 harleys in my life the last bike was a Street Glide I sold 15 years ago so it's been a while since I have been on a bike. I LOVE power & Torque and amd curious how you would compare this bike to the new 101 Scout? I am also digging the new Harley Low Rider with the 117 engine. All I know is I do not want a heavy 825 bagger as longer rides no longer excite me. What do you think would be the best bang for the buck? What I like about the 101 scout is it's low weight. But knowing the Sport Chief has a heftier engine I am torn as to what bike to buy. Any thoughts? Thanks again for the video and be safe my friend.
@BrandonBicasso
@BrandonBicasso 4 ай бұрын
Scout / Chief is either liquid cooled or air. Two different engine characters. They ride different so I would try both back to back if you can. They deliver power differently. Chief dies off fast but has the torque for good pulls. Scout is gonna have some of it low but carries out through mid to high. It will continue pulling because of the higher redline. Depends a lot on the type of riding you’re doing and the type of character you want from the engine also. Consider your size and height. Scout is capable for a lot of height ranges but Chief still feels a tad bit bigger so that could be a factor too. Indian made it tough to pick for a lot of people but I would start at the type of engine I’d want.

Amazing ride, super comftable (I am a beginner and did not felt intimidated). The digital screen looks so nice, but most times was useless, I just wanted to gave up on trying to connect my mobile or setting up a route. Navigation was painfully slow, missed a few turns because of the delayed update route (after I`ve managed to set it up: the keyboard has a back/cancel button on the left side which can be easely pressed by mistake...so you need to start over...really some UX testing would change and improve a lot). The price it`s quite high so I do have high expectations. A reverse gear option would be nice too (found myself couple of times on narrow roads and had to rourn around, was challenging with the weight and road inclination but did managed since I am a big guy, nevertheless a smaller person most likely would not be able to push it). Overall an awesome machine but still needs a little refining to match the price.

I feel like they missed out on a crazy opportunity to throw that in their if they were able to and it’d make it way more popular. But at the same time, it would take away from the chief’s/classic cruisers bread and butter of having the air cooled engine in it. Oh well, maybe someone out there will take on that project and make it work.

That and it would’ve required a separate frame.

Question, sir, do you think a 200 rear end will fit on the back rim?

Always so detailed and entertaining Brandon.. I'm glad to see indian are supporting you,, Australia is not even close. I ride a 2018 RM Elite with 115.000klms so far. Would definitely go the Chief for off road and solo riding. Great review. 👍

As a guy who grew up in central California, I think the problems with cattle guards are, the engineers that designed the road have nothing to do with it. Usually the guard is installed by a rancher or land owner, to stop their cattle from using the road as a point to leave the pasture or property boundary. The issue then becomes, how skilled were the workers who installed it, at setting it low enough to make it even with the road they just cut into? How well is the pavement laid down that connects the road to the guard? Seems to me, some guy just rents a backhoe, digs a 5 foot wide hole across a road, drops in a cattle guard, then lays down some asphalt to smooth the connection on either side to the original road, then pats it down with his feet and walks off! Not enjoyable on a bike. Not at 7 mph. Not at 50 mph 😕.

Yeah, it didn’t help that I rode over it at 50mph or whatever the speed was 😂

The consistent improvement in production quality is becoming more and morenoticeable. I don't know if it's a new camera, or new editing software, or what... but whatever it is, keep it up brother

Great review! How would you compare this to the Suzuki M109R BOSS? The Harley Fat Bob or Breakout 114? I mean in regards to power, responsiveness and torque? What about nimbleness compared to Fat Bob or Lowrider series? Thank you!

Eh, 109 weighs 100 pounds more so Chief will come out strong until maybe 75. Top end on the 109 will kick in but I’d say they’re comparable at start. Not enough experience on the M8s to compare.
