​@@jasona.2044 It's system level because Apple have designed it that way. It's not beyond their technical expertise to uncouple it if they needed to. Just look at sideloading. Apple invested a huge amount of effort to prevent any installation of apps from outside the App Store, and now it's possible. Clearly these "system level" features and applications can be changed because the OS itself can be changed.

It’s absurd for the EU to make Apple make the photos app one that you can delete. Apple is not a hardware company, they are a product company. They should sell iPhones without cameras in the EU if they are forced to do this.

By that logic, Apple should have disabled the NFC hardware on their phones instead of allowing users to delete the Wallet app. Or maybe remove the GPS hardware instead of allowing users to delete their Maps app. All of Apple's apps contribute to the "product" of the iPhone, but that doesn't mean they have to be there whether users want them there or not.

Sure, now we're going crazy but then we gave you USB-C we were the good guys. EU is just against monopolies. That's just about giving people choices. What's wrong with letting people have a choice which apps they want to remove from their phones. If people like the stability of an iPhone combined with Google Photos because hey already have their photo library there or they like certain features like magic erase or something, let them have the choice of removing a redundant app for their use case.

Every time I try to connect them as default speakers for the Apple TV, I receive an error message stating 'Unable to connect to HomePod. You can switch to your TV speakers in settings.' I've already reset my iPhone, my Apple TV, both my HomePods, and even my Wi-Fi network. Additionally, the HomePods, Apple TV, and my iPhone are all connected to my Wi-Fi on the 5 GHz band, and they're all in the same room on the Apple Home app. Despite all this, the problem persists. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 2019 iPad Pro. I have never been able to use it if Siri is turned on. I had to turn off Siri main and Siri on each app. Otherwise, the iPad freezes constantly. If I install a new app, I have to remember to go into the Siri setting to turn Siri off for that app. I don't want anymore AI crap on my iPad because it will probably slow down or lock up my iPad more. I've asked experts and nobody can tell my why this happens or how to fix it.

Great video Brandon! I use siri several times every day. If there is an actual improvement and not just something minor for siri in ios 18, I will be very much pleased. Frequently not getting the answer to a question or Siri saying "I found this on the web.", making you do the work is most annoying. At least commands work fine (at least for me).

If Apple has to restructure its operating systems to support using 3rd-party photo apps as the default, it’s likely to introduce bugs and other issues (even for non-EU users as it’s all the same OS just with region-locked features). We haven’t had a “stable” release since before 2013 and I don’t think we’ll have one anytime soon.

I expected this year to be a "same devices supported year" after dropping devices 2 years in a row. This will be the first time, however, that this IS NOT the case with the iPads, although these iPads were supposed to be dropped last year if they were just one year older. Apple appears to now support devices for no less than 6 years before dropping them. 3GB RAM is likely the minimum now--that allows the iPad 7's A10 to still be supported.

June 10 for developer beta 1, public beta in late June or early July. It's really just about the speed of betas now, as you can simply sign up for a developer account to get the developer beta. You no longer have to pay for the full developer membership.

Yeah there are times I'm not a fan of the Photos app but I went and installed Google Photos. Works fine and I share my library with it. Not sure why Apple has to allow users to remove it. I agreed with the USB-C requirement and maybe some other regulations with the App store but telling them to remove a system level app is too far.

No apps will be removed--the ability for the user to remove stock apps is being expanded.

10:05 I was surprised when I borrowed a ebook from my library and I couldn’t open it in Apple Books app. Yeah, somebody at Apple needs to fixed that. Pronto!!! 😢

There is a way to separate the Photos API from the actual Photos app. Also, Apple could open up some more APIs for devs to integrate more with the Camera app. Don‘t take this personally, but if you‘re not a developer or don‘t have a lot of technical knowledge, you shouldn‘t make these kinds of assumptions. It sends the wrong message to Apple fans.

I still don't understand why people are angry about choice. It is not a bad thing. Because of choice and DMA, we can now enjoy Windows without EDGE and AI stuff. I understand Windows is a different segment but I mentioned it as an example. I use chatGPT all the time but I don't want anything like this in my system. So I just uninstalled that. So why if I hate something about my iPhone I can't have the last say? Why people are so close-minded?

But you can’t sit here and say they wouldn’t have to restructure the whole system to make it so this third-party photos app can work seamlessly with each device in your Apple ecosystem as though it were the system-wide photos app. That would take a lot of hard work, and it would mean they’d have to restructure the ecosystem around being able to do that. I dunno why saying that is an issue at all. And this is coming from somebody with experience with multiple phones between Android and iOS.

@@JinxeBlaq Couldn't we have said the same thing about allowing sideloading though? Surely it was a large undertaking to allow apps to be installed without the App Store - especially when Apple had invested a lot of effort into preventing exactly that.
