I used a 7.62 during my military service and the most fun part of that round was shooting targets through the trees. Also a popular meme about AK variants is that they're inaccurate. Well, I can't speak for all of them but the RK95 I used was definitely accurate up to 300m which was the longest range we used. Had no troubles hitting the human sized target at that range.
@bill8617 Жыл бұрын
The memes are American because (non-reloaders) only have access to the cheapest of target rounds for 7.6x39. I am guessing Finland? You all have state of the art components... for the AK.
@jep1st Жыл бұрын
@bill8617 Yes, Finland. Also as I understand, the RK95 is one of the best variants available.
@AB-nv7bz Жыл бұрын
AK isn't as accurate as an AR simply due to the tolerances of the weapon. Which has advantages and disadvantages, hence the AK's unrivaled reliability. So you can get a smaller grouping with an AR, but its irrelevant in the real world usage. I'd take an AK over an AR, but an M4 over both.
@akakios7386 Жыл бұрын
@@AB-nv7bz An M4 is an AR, it's the carbine variant of the m16. AR is a platform, saying you'd take an M4 over an AR is like saying you'd take a Glock 17 over a Glock, or an L1A1 over a FAL. Also military M4's are not intended for long range accuracy either, your typical M4A1 is supposed to be about 4 MOA (you don't really need anything better to be combat effective, as you said, typically irrelevant to real world usage), in comparison well made AK's average 2.5-3 MOA and a decent free-float AR15 (which would include block 2 or URGI M4s used by SOCOM, where the extra precision does count) can easily achieve less than 1 MOA with the right ammo.
@BlackSpade72 Жыл бұрын
@@AB-nv7bz Nobody knows the AK like Marco Vorobiev. The former Soviet solider has spent nearly his entire life behind the sights of the Kalashnikov and literally knows the rifle from the inside out. Some say, “Yeah, but it’s not accurate.” I say, BS. The gun is not inaccurate, that comes down to the shooter. A M4, when you’re talking about 16-inch barrels - a carbine - an AK outshoots it. The gun is designed to strike at 0-1,300 meters a human-sized target. A M4, is out of range at 660 meters. If someone says it’s not accurate, I say, “No - you’re not accurate.”

My question is would David Chipman try to claim an AK chambered in 5.45 is an assault weapon? By his standard presented during his hearing it should not. As 5.45mm is only 0.214 inches. That would indicate it is not equal to the caliber of.22 let alone larger. Therefore by his definition a gun chambered in 5.45 is not an assault weapon.
@witiwap863 жыл бұрын
I don't recall him specifying bullet diameter as the benchmark, just .22. His statements don't really have any legal bearing so if he were to try to actually codify it he could just specify the muzzle energy or powder load of a 22. Besides, .223 and 5.56 are both essentially 22s as well. (.22 inches = 5.6mm)

But shooting thru the window in a room with concrete walls there is 1 or 2 deadly post-ricochet vectors . I had a chance to play with that numerous times at abandoned structures at remote outposts. Fun fact - center hit with 76n on empty tin can doesn't produce any movement of the target . Looks like miss from away . Close look shows a small entry hole on front side and one giant exit hole at the back of the can . Actually back of the tin can is not just pierced but ripped .

As they say with engines, "There's no replacement for displacement." So goes it for firearms, "If you want to hit them with more, go with a bigger bore." Ok, fine. Maybe I just made that up but, I like it and I'm running with it.
@jakegarrett81093 жыл бұрын
They forget about boost pressure and RPM (like my car factory is 9,500 rpm, but it also fires 2x more per rpm than a standard piston engine so its effectively closer to 19,000 rpm for comparison sake). Then boost, like the engine my car uses is one of the most powerful mostly stock engines to use just adding a giant turbo with over 1000 HP per liter where most piston engines need completely custom engine blocks and custom pistons, and basically not a single stock part in them. Also the power to weight ratio on that engine is very high, especially for an NA engine. Also there are other replacements, such as fuel or oxidizers, such as NOS (oxidizer) or Methanol (fuel) for using extremely high turbo pressure. So, that old saying is no longer true (also due to reciprocating mass the big engines do not handle higher RPM unless they have extremely short stroke such as F1 cars since the maximum piston velocity is lower relative to longer bore).
@ViktoriousDead3 жыл бұрын
Quantity is better than quality
@jakegarrett81093 жыл бұрын
@@ancientrenegade9243 Its not though, its 1.3 liters of displacement for the 13b. Technically if we go by rotor RPM it fires 6x more than a piston on its crankshaft, but I compare crankshaft to crankshaft since the rotor is on a 3:1 gear ratio. Its simply not, it would be closer to a 2 cycle piston engine (except the rotor undergoes all 4 cycles but in a sweeping elliptical path instead of linear and repeating). Now if it was a 4 rotor, then yes it would be 2.6 liters but its not a 26b (I have met a guy that made an 8 rotor turbo from bolting 4x RX7 engines together which apparently is easy but I'm not sure the RX8 engines are that modular)
@jakegarrett81093 жыл бұрын
@@ancientrenegade9243 again it's not, first we have one guy saying 2.6, now you're saying 3.9 based on rotation of dissimilar engine design, which is also wrong because then I would argue we should go by rotor rotation which is 360 degree firing cycle since it's just the crankshaft that's got its own gearing that you're pulling the number from and not really anything to do with the engine cycle otherwise you'd also be counting engine rpm after the transmission or gearbox which nobody does except turboshaft jet installation where they also don't care about displacement besides volumetric airflow as they only care about torque and RPM at output shaft as well as fuel flowrate**. In that example, jet engines are not built the same but I would consider displacement to be compressor diameter x effective pitch but true displacement would vary based on compressibility of fluid and some might also care about total displacement (so they wouldn't ignore flow bypass systems such as most modern turbofans don't have all of the flow go through the burner for efficiency gains compared to old turbojets), but it sounds like you would probably be counting the full engine size (total interior volume x rpm) in that example. From an engineering perspective I believe my approach is correct, as each pocket of air holds 1.3 liters of air ignoring vacuum of intake loss (otherwise turbochargers would be changing displacement which nobody changes displacement ratings based on boost pressure because that wouldn't make sense as displacement is clearly defined as diameter times length, or air pocket volume). Based on historical methods of measuring engine size this is the most logical and concise approach. I do concede that 3.9l makes way more sense than 2.6 though, as it can be derived in a logical way I thought of (different than your derivation). I mostly care that my engine fits in an 18" cube and weighs less than 250 pounds and spits flames and pops like you're racing through a warzone and that it puts a smile so big on my face that Im sometimes in pain from smiling so big and will get early stretch marks from it, but to me that spinning dorito makes my day and you can't stay mad when driving a rotary, so cheers!
@jakegarrett81093 жыл бұрын
@@ancientrenegade9243 I'm not really sure if that's the correct volumetric number, but assuming it is I'm also not sure swept travel is even the correct way to go about it (as air can move in a system but do 0 work, such as if I had a boxer engine but had both pistons travel the same direction, the total air displacement would be 0 even if we had infinite travel and 0 work would be accomplished). It would be max intake air chamber size for more comparable number (total volume of air being displaced from the outside environment). Also considering the entire cycle takes 360 degrees of the rotor to do 3 combustion cycles, I'd argue again that the geared crankshaft speed is irrelevant and would look at purely the rotor if you are looking at it thermodynamically (in which case you would want to argue that it fires "3 pistons" or "3 cycles" per 360 degrees and say it takes 120 degrees on average to complete a cycle) I still think per intake cycle it sucks in 1.3L/2 every time the intake port opens on the it (per rotor), so to me that would be 1.3/2 L per rotor, and that's also how you'd be approximating how much fuel to add for typical NA engines. Either way it behaves much more like a 1.3L high revved engine and pretty similar to a 2 stroke if comparing crankshaft to crankshaft rpm, I even pre-mix 2 stroke oil every time I fill up and its also about as terrible at fuel economy (less than half what I make with a 4 cylinder) so I guess its more semantics since its really not directly measured the same as a typical engine so I would default to how the inventor of the engine would rate it (for example I had an idea for a recuperating engine that undergoes an odd number of cycles, I would consider its displacement to be the first volumetric displacement), or if someone making a jet wanted to go with mass flow rate or static thrust or some other unit I believe historically the inventor has dictated the units (such as horsepower being weaker than ponies for marketing purposes).

Fun fact, the Russians nearly adopted the 6.5mmx57 caliber when the Fedorov Avtomat was designed in 1916. Having studied a variety of calibers from 8mm to 6mm (anything below 6mm was considered underpowered, hmm!) they thought the 6.5mm caliber was most suited for automatic rifles. Eventually settling on the 6.5mmx50 Arisaka cartridge due to production issues and Japan having a ready ammo supply to purchase. Do a test with Hornady SST and soft point rounds on ballistic gel, instead of cheaper fmj 7.62x39 offerings... big difference. Perfect for hogs or even deer under 250yds.

Good hunting round but what about shtf/ home defense etc etc
@chrisoliver34043 жыл бұрын
SST or soft point rounds would be perfect for shtf,home protection,and even zombies.

Wolf 125gr SP 7.62x39 slaps hard 👌

I've dropped plenty of hogs with wolf 124 grain hp ammo. Was much cheaper, who knows now. 7.62x39 was my favorite caliber out to 300 yds for hogs. One reason being it was super cheap, and I have an abundance of hogs. I have counted herds up to 100 on my property.

Great video. I love the no drama approach, just showing what they do.

5.45 is the better bullet when there is no armor. The flesh damage is just insane. However, when there is some armor or you are fighting in a place where you need the extra penetration and hitting power - go 7.62.
@captainnutt29953 жыл бұрын
I heard about 5.45 and 7.62x39 have same penetration power from Combat Approve channel on Ep23 A bullet is not a fool or six records of Russian gunsmith.

5.45 hardend steel core does good at going thru armor... and it goes faster... faster plus smaller diameter = rips thru fibers

@@hondaservicecenter Yep. 7n6 is armor penetrators as well.

5.45 броню лучше пробивает. Но у 7.62 останавливаются сила выше

it really depends on the situation. as for most combat situations I would pick 5.45 as it is lighter and you can carry more. If I was on the security team at Jurassic world I would pick the 7.62 for more stopping power.

I'd be picking no less than 338 Lapua or 50 BMG for a dino, haha!

When i spoke to medics out of Eastern Ukraine they said the 7.62×39mm was easy enough to extract most the time but the 5.45 was a tricky little fucker and alot of guys died on the table hunting it down bc it would ricochet in the body and be much harder to locate for removal
5,45mm if I am to carry it in combat, it's 50% lighter. means much more ammo, especially if I am carrying loose ammo on me in addition to whatever combat load I am packing.
@tRiXMaddy3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely 100% My daily choice is 7.62 but Absolutely 5.45 for needing to carry a lot and the ammo is deadly af

I greatly appreciate you doing normal, long, and short barrels. Shorter barrels inherently produce less energy, as there's less time for the gas from the cartridge to push the bullet, and vice versa with long barrels.

that smoke from the target out of that long barrel 5.45 was crazy! Super cool video! Awsome!
